I've lived this for 4 years with Tesla and being a moderator on a Tesla forum. This part is painful and Tesla does not do it well at all either. But almost every owner, regardless of the painful communication experience and wait will forget it all after that first drive. I think this pickup will deliver the same experience.
Yep, just went through it with Tesla. MYP was originally supposed to be delivered December, then Jan, finally took possession in March. Probably what has my patience thin, well that and the Tesla is my wife's car😁 and I just want my truck.

Finally got it to work, now let’s see how fast it’s denied or accepted 🤣. Hopefully the Spray in Liner Crew wants to listen to some music

Had you been getting the "wait until you accept delivery" message when trying to activate before?

No, it was giving me two options, asking me if I wanted to restore previous settings or delete everything. I kept hitting delete everything and it kept telling me that I was not authorized. I finally hit the restore everything and it went to activation pending.

When my ICE was Built I did the same thing and it stayed on Activation Pending until it arrived at the Railyard and was then activated. I was able to follow it all the way to the dealer

FordMoCo said the Pros would be shipped first.

Some of the Fleet Pros may have been built.

They haven't built the Customer Pros yet, they should be starting the Customer reservation Pros these next few weeks.

When the Pros ship then the Lariats and up may ship soon after. ;)

It makes zero sense to hold XLTs, Lariats, and Plattys that have been built just so they can deliver customer Pros ahead of trucks that were built weeks ago.

I mean total JV that they have a typo in the first sentence for activating a car in the app. I’m genuinely concerned about my lightning now.

Jim Farley - FordMoCo CEO said:
During the Lightning’s launch event, Farley shared that Ford plans to produce 150,000 units of the EV truck. He also hinted that the first units of the F-150 Lightning would ship out “in a few days.” Deliveries would start with the Pro Series trim.

Jim Farley - FordMoCo CEO said:
Lightnings will begin shipping to customers in the next few days, Farley said, starting with the Ford Pro model aimed at commercial customers. That’s where the rubber meets the road.

I mean, it’s right up there with sending out mass emails about production delays…… I guess they weren’t lying lol

Where are the “influencers” at? Did they close their accounts after they got clicks for their “Launch Day” videos? They would get a lot of clicks making videos on how the Lightning is delayed….. maybe even get Farley to answer questions

I have a theory. Just an assumption, but I believe if we read into what Jim Farley said and the odd holds that are happening, it makes sense.

Remember long ago when Darren Palmer (Ford EV Chief) said the Lightning would mostly be safe from semiconductor shortages as the Lightning has no engine and (at least at that time) the semiconductors that were hard to come by were the larger units needed to control ICE vehicles. In that same interview, he mentioned that certain semiconductors (SC) that controlled comfort features would be the SCs the Lightning might have trouble with.

Flash forward to news that Ford is selling Explorers without rear heated seats right now because of the SC shortage. Other vehicles are also facing equipment deletes or delays that center around convenience features like heated seats, steering wheels, etc.

Jim Farley made it a point to say that shipments will begin with the Pro model. Which doesn't have heated seats standard if I'm reading the website correctly. That's an option, but not standard. So it would make sense that Pros go out first because they are complete. Meanwhile, all of us (the majority) who got Lariats, XLTs and Plat. level trucks are stuck, waiting for these convenience features Ford promised, but can't deliver because they don't have the SC to complete the truck and I seriously doubt they will send out customer Lightnings with any missing components. It would destroy the launch of a vehicle they have everything riding on.

That's why I believe we are seeing only dealer demos shipped right now. They may or may not have all the features, but on a normal test drive, you don't have enough time to test the seat heaters anyways. Who is going to use a seat heater in Texas in the next 3 months? Then, when the SC are available, they get sent to the dealer who can easily install them and then turn the vehicle around in the 6 months they have to hold it, which is probably why Ford wants them to hold the vehicles that long anyways. Because Ford knows they won't have the SC for another few months anyways, but they had to show the trucks shipping "Spring 2022" because they have insisted that was going to happen in the media.

Just my thoughts on this. I think those of us waiting on anything beyond a Pro are going to have to hope they take care of our trucks in those lots for the next several months. I hope, I pray that I'm wrong though.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with your sources...I'm just saying with the lack of any proper explanation it doesn't make sense.

What @F150ROD is saying makes sense and is a pretty good theory. I'm just saying that without some stated reason for the delay it makes no sense to hold vehicles that are already built. In fact let me say this...if the frickin heated seats modules were a known shortage item then why did they schedule vehicles that were going to need them at all? Why not wait until they had them to schedule a batch of XLTs, Lariats, and Plattys? Just make a couple of weeks of Pros and send them out....is their supply chain that dorked up that they can't forecast even a month out as to what they'll need for a specific model?

That and my salesman told me that Ford said they were going to start shipping vehicles to the dealers that were missing modules and either hold them at the dealership awaiting the modules or make the owner sign a release acknowledging the missing module and that it would be installed when it became available.

So, my Ford app just sent me a notification saying "authorization complete". I can see where my truck is!
