Ford really needs to get a handle on this, and they seem to be getting more serious about it. Any vehicle that is ordered from the factory should be sold at MSRP. Dealers like this are seriously hurting Ford's long term brand and goals, as it turns into a "do I want to deal with a dealer, or just order the Tesla online in 15 minutes".

Everyone hates the dealer sale model, but now in the EV space, consumers can actually vote with their wallet.
Except in this case, Tesla has nothing comparable to a Lightning. When the Cybertruck is out we will see plenty of abandoned Lightnings if dealers keep playing these games. But again, this is nothing new and Ford could of had a plan long before the Lightning. We saw this with the Mach-E, ICE F150, Bronco, Maverick, Focus RS so on and so on

If Alex gets the Rivian at the original Price, he can flip it in a few months for 25k profit. If he gets the Ford he *might* just break even in 3 months.

I just had a local dealer sell theirs for 140K CAD$ NOT USD.
MSRP was 98,540 CAD$. They sold it within one day. How do I know? One of my previous customer asked me if I had one available to sell him, which I do not and we don't have mannequins. Told him I wouldn't pay a dollar over, however money is no object to this person. And he is now a proud owner of a Lightning I guess.

Order a truck on the day it’s announced.
Wait a year for it to be built.
Get excited when you see it has shipped.
Dealership adds $10K to your order without telling you.
Gotta love that sales model !
They are called Stealerships for a reason.

Wait something doesn’t look right here. He claims the dealer added $10k to the order webpage on Ford.com? I never realized dealers were able to change numbers on that site?

Either Alex is lying or he never noticed the $10k Markup to begin with. Am I wrong?

They can technically change that price up until delivery. It seems super sketchy, but the system allows them.

I know about them being able to change the price, however @Ford Motor Company reps have said that if your order summary on the Ford site says 0 difference from MSRP they will help you out and making sure you don’t pay that extra amount. But what Alex showed on his video is that same site printed out with a $10k difference which means dealers can change the price on that site. I thought once you ordered the numbers on that site were untouchable. Craziness

Once the order is in with dealer, it is technically their truck. Ford put systems in place to try and eliminate dealers from adding ADM after the fact, but they messed up here. In all honesty, that screen can show $0, but when you go to pick up, your dealer can say $10,000 markup. It’s a weird system, but there are so many laws and rules that for whatever reason, seem to protect the dealers.

I am so liquor'd up on the lightening it would be really upsetting for my dealer to pull that on me. Hold my breath I guess.

I’d simply walk away from The dealer and ask Ford to make it right. Otherwise, I’d find other dealers and or manufacturers to spend $100G and get the appropriate service and respect I require. At the end of the day, I’m not married to either.

I thought that once they accepted an order at $XXXX price they couldn't go back and NOT honor that price. If dealers CAN change the deal after it has been agreed to Ford REALLY needs to change this pronto. That's not right. Its bad business and perhaps basis for a lawsuit(breach of contract?) depending upon what was agreed to before the order was accepted by the dealer.

As an aside, I'm REALLY surprised Alex did not get a signed purchase order from his dealer. He's usually on top of things and we have all seen the Bronco fiasco....

Not every dealer will issue a signed purchased contract at time of order. The big thing here is it needs to be signed by both parties- The dealer and the buyer. A lot of people signed their preview purchase orders at time of order, the issue is a good chunk of dealers did not countersign that document, so there is no real contract.
