This is likely something that very few will do anything about, but I can see it being a major gripe. And that is the lack of a 12V socket in the center stack (we get the 120V breaker) and lack of the 12V socket inside the center console (don't know if non-powerboost still have this).

I for one like my 12V dual port fast charger (Qi) that I keep inside the center console and just pull out the cords through the wire notches in the lid. Others may prefer using the plug in the center stack.

Now we will be limited to the USB-A and USB-C charging speeds/limitations, and they may or may not support higher voltage charging. Additionally, they may try to establish a data connection with our phone which I find annoying. Can anyone verify the charging rates on the ports inside the center console, and whether they try to connect as data?

I figure that behind the center console ports they must start with 12V as the source, and if I find the ports annoying and/or too slow to charge, I may consider trying to put a 12V socket in there. Similar to what my old XLT has, compared to what is inside the powerboost console:

Current / previous vehicles I've hardwired radar detector, but other obvious issue is no 12v plug for radar detector etc. Bit of a miss by Ford's design team.

By the way what are you defining as "hard wired"? I have multiple interpretations in my head of what that could mean so I thought I'd ask while I'm here.

I've used various solutions to access ignition-switched 12v/ground from (i) my least favorite solution of "vampire taps" (ugh), (ii) anticipated 2021 solution will be Blendmount or similar harness that takes RJ-11 to pins thin enough to slide into rear view mirror plug, or (iii) my 2016 F150 solution was a Fuse Tap in the passenger footwell powering the V1 hardwire power adapter and then taking the phone cord power up the A-Pillar and across the roof to pop out just to left of rear view mirror. Or possibly go with the same fuse tap solution in 2021 as 2016, depending on how easy it is to thread the phone cord through to and then up the A-Pillar in the 2021.

Wait...there’s no lighter plug in the center console?! How about somewhere else outside the center console but lower in the footwell on either side? My BMW has a slick one available on the underside of the passenger footwell which made it super easy to hide the cables.

Yes, others that got their trucks already have pointed this out. You only get 1 total 12V socket, and it's in the rear of the center console for "the kids" as I would call it. I mean, sure you *could* plug in and feed all the way forward but that just seems silly.

If there is one in a sleek spot in a footwell somewhere, none of the current powerboost owners have found it and reported it.

I guess I will have to rig something for my Airstream wireless camera that has a 12V plug. Maybe something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/Cigarette-Li...la-573052020173&ref=&adgrpid=70160276868&th=1

Run it from the center console and power from usb connection. The Wireless camera cord should be long enough but still not ideal.
The problem with that is the current is so low after doing the voltage transform. The USB-C port is certainly capable of higher power delivery than the USB-A, but it is up to the host (truck) side logic to step up for fast charging, which I have no idea if it can do yet. This is a better option for what you may need for your camera: https://www.amazon.com/WYMECT-Cigar...1&keywords=usb+c+to+12v&qid=1613532414&sr=8-7

There is one on the dash right above the 120v.

Ok hang on a sec there. I had also thought that I saw some powerboost trucks had a 12V, but the powerboost owners on another thread all said they only had the breaker reset and a 120V AC plug.

Is this a pic directly from your Lariat powerboost? Because if it is, this whole world just got really confusing.... I don't know why some trucks would have a 12V and others do not.

Yes. I have the 2.4kw. Maybe someone with the 7.2kw can confirm also?

The 2.4 KW must be the difference. I have the 7.2 KW and have the breaker reset instead of a 12 v outlet as you have.

Ok so if you have a 7.2kw powerboost, you don’t have any front 12v then, right? I know about the read seat one.

That is certainly the case with mine.
