I am to end of the AT&T trial and assuming connected services go away without cell connection. I don't want to use AT&T, I consider it the worst telecom company. Does anyone know how to transfer service to another provider? I would much rather use Verizon

Hmm, I guess it might be possible, but for some reason I didn't think it was.
Probably would be the same as changing any phone.
FYI the military rate at T-Mobile is hard to beat.
T-Mobile is kind of like an EV, you have to make sure it fits your situation.

Trading trucks is likely easier than changing the cell company. I don't think it is possible. They don't just give a SIM that can be popped out and replaced. Much like the cell phones, the communicator in the truck is likely built just to work on the ATT network and not Verizon.

AT&T pays vehicle manufacturers a lot of money to be the exclusive hotspot / connectivity provider. They have deals with:

* Acura
* Alpha Romeo
* Audi
* BMW
* Buick
* Cadillac
* Chevy
* Chrysler
* Dodge
* Ford
* GMC
* Honda
* Infiniti
* Jaguar
* Jeep
* Land Rover
* Lexus
* Lincoln
* Maserati
* Mazda
* Mercedes
* Nissan
* Porche
* Ram Truck
* Rolls Royce
* Subaru
* Toyota
* Volco
* Wagoneer

Isn't the AT&T trial simply for the hotspot capability? I thought the base connected services that provide telemetry back to Ford and OTA updates (if you allow for it) happen regardless of the AT&T trial.

Connected services do not go away if the AT&T trial ends. That only provides a WiFi hotspot for phones and laptops. You can still use FordPass, receive OTA updates, etc.

If you really want a Verizon hotspot just buy a portable hotspot. The truck modem cannot be swapped out for anything other than AT&T.

BTW, I took the fuse for the TCU out and it looks like even if you use your phone as a hotspot and connectthe truck to the hotspot that none of the Ford Pass "Vehicle" stuff work. Still testing though.

What kills me is that the AT&T hotspot service doesn’t provide wi-fi to the truck, specifically the Synch 4A system. How crazy is that?

Oh I thought that was part of it... well if it is only to use as a hotspot then I'm GTG. I have cell phone for that. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't lose the connected services

Thank you all for the input

Makes sense. Well, they won't be getting any business from me. I didn't get back on HBO until they sold it and I won't be buying anything from them

I used to have TMO and it work great until I moved to the sticks... also, very unreliable at most training sites

Connected Services is an entirely different charge (cheaper fortunately $10/mo). But all that does is give you You-Tube on the Synch 4A screen while you are parked. I guess the news channels too, but who is left on this planet that actually watched the news, right?

Neither service is worth it. Anyone with a cell phone has 10x the utility for the same price.
