Tips for a new Lightning owner?

Hello,

My 2023 Lightning XLT will be here in a few hours and I was curious if there are any tips you current owners have for me as I take delivery or just for general use.

This isn't my first EV (tesla) and I've purchased many new cars over the last 25 years but this F150 lightning seems like a different beast compared to my previous vehicles.

So any recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Took delivery of my 2022 Lariat in November 2022. I never removed the protective film, and I don't have any glare. True story, and yeah, I'm cheap.

For the antenna- how much better is the reception? I'm about 60 miles from NYC, and this intrigues me.

EDIT- the reviews for around NYC/NJ were not favorable. They were very bad. Pass. My reception is not bad at all. OP may want to wait and see.

If you want all the bells and whistles get the highest trim you can afford! As Ford gives you nothing with the Pro but four tires and two EV motors, and then as you go up in trim you get more features and electronic tech.

Asked the guy at the Ford dealership who sold me the Lightning, “what’s the difference between the XLT and Lariat?” As they had both on the lot. And was told “Leather seat?!”

Later I found out I was missing out on glass roof, Phone as a Key, Long range, power tailgate, Blue Cruze, etc.

Unlike Tesla, if you buy a Model S, 3, X, Y, or CT you get most if not all electronic tech features standard for all trims. Minus mechanical items like single vs duel drive, long range vs standard etc.

Yes read on some post here guy was doing a lot of highway miles and as result his lower bumper had big chips and dents that were showing the under coat paint?!

I say this because to come on here in a year and say "hey, I didn't know my truck had ___" is simply ridiculous.

Sit and go through EVERY setting and click on the information icon if you don't know what that feature does. Saying "the truck accelerated to 80mph in a 70mph zone for no reason" is also embarrassing (sign recognition and threshold).

Also has the towing software as well plus 360 cameras, same paint color door handles, adaptive cruise and auto drives in the lane for you, where I would go Lariat is power mirrors, moon roof, leather seats and blue cruise.

One example, we paid $500 for our charger, and Tesla sells their far better version for only $250.

So with all that said, don’t get me wrong. I love Ford lightning and I think Ford builds a good vehicle. It’s just that I honestly believe that Ford is trying to dig themselves out of a hole at the consumers expense. Tesla doesn’t have to do that.

New owners and individuals who want to buy a Ford lightning should have the best experience possible and get all the features in one vehicle versus different trims!

No problem. There are deals out there to get. I got my mobile charger thrown in plus a bed liner spray. Also $22,300 in discounts and federal cash. Get what you want but shop the best deal for it.
