Clicked on Apple Watch FordPass app and the controls finally came up after getting through my 2nd page of posts here... they have to improve the [click app] -> [ready to accept commands] timing. It's wildly variable from "why did I bother" to "it's fast enough to use, but not fast enough to be a time saver". I often find it far quicker to just open my phone.

Also, as soon as I let my arm down, the app auto-refreshes when I raise my wrist causing another wait period. Usually faster than the initial open though.

Would love to have the zone lighting controls back in the app.
This! Why was it removed in the first place? Why do I need to get in the truck to turn the lights on? Why can't I turn them on using my phone? We drive computers on wheels, can't be hard to get niche features like this working properly for those who need it. It's a work truck! Let us work in the dark!

One of the most frustrating removals. Zone lighting was used regularly.

This is confidential information and ruins it for the rest of us when you guys post stuff like this. We have embargo restrictions we need to abide by. They will shut this down if people keep doing this. And you’ll be removed. No fun for anybody then.
Thanks for reporting me. I got booted from the program. ? Embargo. Do you even know what that means?

There is no harm in this. The more feedback on Betas is always a good thing. Agile 101. Which is the opposite of how Ford deploys. So I guess shouldn’t be surprised

So far beta have gone public about 4 weeks after EAP. So what.

You signed an agreement.
You can provide all the feedback you want directly to Ford. That’s how the program works. Ford EAP folks monitor this forum and probably saw your post. Which is why I try to warn folks so they can delete their posts if they did not know there’s an embargo. (Yes, I very aware of what that means. Look it up.)

Read the agreement you signed to join program.

It’s also extremely frustrating for folks like us who adhere to program rules only to see it’s been posted on a forum.

I’m in eap and would love to get app beta updates. How do you do that?
It’s a separate ea program. They’d invite you if they needed you.

I am not in EAP and I understand the signing of the agreement, etc. However, the control center access was shown by Apple in June (and again in September), so there REALLY is no harm there. We did not know about the widget though.

As a senior software engineer, Ford's policies do not make a ton of sense, as updates like these being silent do not give them a competitive advantage. If anything, keeping them silent hurts since people are asking and want stuff like this and may move on to other brands thinking it is never coming. There is a reason pretty much every real tech company does public betas and are very open about their short-term roadmap. Even Apple - one of the most secretive company in tech - pre-announce features by months. Ford is just stuck in the past, unfortunately.

Overall I'd agree OP shouldn't have posted screenshots of features not available publicly. I do think you used embargo incorrectly though, maybe you interpret it differently but the definition doesn't seem to relate to the topic.

If OP really did get booted from EAP, I think Ford should do a better job in their communications when new features are available for testing and feedback. I understand at the time he signed up, he agreed to the terms, but that may have been years ago. I think they should reiterate confidentiality each time they communicate new features.

The applicable wording for EAP: "You agree to maintain the confidentiality of and not disclose any information or materials provided by Ford to you in connection with the Ford EAP."

The EAP iOS beta app program launched just last year. But I agree Ford needs to be better about the communication piece of what is public knowledge, what is not, and what days/times certain information can be made public and they know this.

Embargo is referring to a media/press embargo. It’s an agreement between you a company that you cannot go public with certain information until a specific time. It doesn’t just apply to the media anymore especially now days with influencer content and beta testing.

As stated this is why I tell folks to delete the content and just explain to EAP you made a mistake. But based on his response it wasn’t a mistake. He could always try to email and explain. But they specifically said you will be removed when they opened this up last year.

I personally don’t think OP did anything wrong here, other than posting screenshots under a username that seemingly contains his real life info. You need to do stuff like that anonymously. There’s too many self righteous people online who won’t hesitate to score points by turning you in.

Then you can kiss all beta programs goodbye. If you want to be a part of it you have to play by the rules. The rest of us are.

Ford has ways to tell even if you don’t post under your name/user. Just sayin’.
