Needed an adapter quickly, so purchased a Lectron through Amazon. Got it quickly, seemed super robust, heavy duty. Used it twice, worked. The got this notice this morning… ugh. I purchased the Lectron thinking it should be fine, i.e. Ford is partnering with them. And somewhat shocked that they would continue to be selling them with this recall in place? Thought they had resolved this issue?

This looks like Amazon had a warehouse of this and has continued to sale and ship them, followed by a recall notice. That is pretty sh@ty, if that is the case.

I say that because the original date of the recall is back in April, 2024. 🤔

I had one in my cart and was going to buy for our first out of town trip 12/9. Just disappeared from my cart and the listing is completely gone. Now I have to figure out which one of the alternatives I'll have to buy.

I got the same email an hour ago. The serial numbers on the recall do not match up with my adapter at all (my S/N is ANC3B8##### while the ranges in the recall notice are all completely numerical).

So I have a feeling it's Amazon shotgunning it to everyone like they did with an Anker powerbank a month or two ago (got a followup email from them saying it was a mistake).

At any rate, I sent an email to the email address in the notice asking about it, giving them my S/N. Suggest you do the same and report back.

I'll update later when I hear back.

Adding this--
https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...defect-found-with-lectron-nacs-adapter.19141/

There's a pretty nice video in the first post that probably explains what the original problem was. Going to hit up a Tesla supercharger sometime this week and see if mine has the same problem. Sticking something in there, it appears that the catch is installed correctly, but won't trust it until I have a real NACS connector plugged into it and try to pull it out.

The A2Z EV one is solid.
I don't see that one on Amazon. I'm probably going to use it 5-6 times a year most likely, so since I missed out on the free Ford one I'm just looking for something that works for infrequent use.

I clarified this with their CS team as soon as I got the email. Apparently, this recall is for the May 2024 recall that affected a small number of units bought from their website. This does not, in any way, affect those bought from Amazon. So if you got your Vortex from Amazon, you're all good!

this information originally posted only alludes to the 'safety' issue that there 'could' be a 'potential' shock hazard 'if' the unit is Unplugged WHILE still charging - that is impossible with the lightning, or most ANY EV, since you have to disengage the Charge Port button, or stop the Unit, first. These are not always easy to remove even AFTER you've stopped charging, so I think the warning is really just an over-the-top concern of some engineers who don't use DC Fast Charging in the first place.

It refers to the issue of the NACS charge cable being pulled out of the adapter itself. That could be done with the charge current still flowing.

The safety alert came from Amazon. What you’re saying doesn’t make sense?

More… this charger appears to have been removed from Lectron’s amazon store, can’t find it. It still shows up on their own website. I tried sending Lectron a message, but their website was unresponsive. I looked at the recall details, can’t confirm for sure whether or not this specific unit is in the list of recalled items.

Hence, to err on the side of caution, returning this unit. I’ll go with the Typhoon

Same issue with the serial numbers. Erring on the side of caution, returning the unit.
