I could order a 15 wire cable.....but more importantly, how do I determine which blue, orange, green and pink wire are the canbus given that there are 2 of each?

Iā€™ll pull the diagrams when I get home in a few hours.

Blue and Pink are CAN1

Orange and Green are CAN2

Brown and Black are power.

I donā€™t know what Grey is doing.

there are two of every color because there is an in and an out.

I just re-read the how too....at least the resistor part looks easy enough, I put resistors on the wires coming from the female adaptor side I think.

still odd that I have an extra 2 grey wires

thanks,
Mike

Man I read through 11 pages of this only to find out that my 24 won't be supported due to encrypted canbus. I suppose that due to software licensing agreements that we are forced to agree to when purchasing the vehicle, that cracking the encryption would be against the law.

If it's not technically illegal, then it's probably just a really bad idea because my truck is leased.

anyway, I'll just keep my original goal of picking up a used Lariat when this lease is up.

The encryption is rooted in European Union laws around Cybersecurity for connected vehicles. Itā€™s not going to be easy to crack.

I don't suppose the Euros probably have DIY access or aftermarket accessories in mind, either. Thanks for the explanation.

Finally got to it! I ended up just doing the original wire extension method instead of the new separate harness method (only because lack of patience on finding the parts and pretty good wiring experience)

Running BluePilot 2.1, working flawlessly. And the fine grained control of how the truck stays in the lane plus all the other options and things you can change make this totally worth it. Plus using the native BC interface with the truck is a nice new touch

BlueCruise 1.4 was a disaster for me the few interstate drives I took. But inner city driving is great with the Comma. Highly recommend using this if you want to skip out on the yearly charge

did you use the resistors and female connectors? I wired the resistors inline and still get errors but it works.....thinking of switching them so that they are exchangeable like in the origonal instructions.

The resisters are in-line (please donā€™t judge my wire work, they are all soldered and heat shrinked in) And to the bane of everyoneā€™s existence I just used wire screws on the IPMA side (blasphemy I know, but if it works it works).

No errors at all for me but I think the exchangeable connectors that wire them all in correctly is definitely the better play with this šŸ‘Œ

I thought at first the resisters went on the IPMA side which is why I had to splice twice on the Comma to female extension end.

Your resisters were the ones that are <1% 0.5 62ohm correct? I assume they were but I tried with 5% first since I could get those quick and it wasnā€™t accurate enough for the system to accept it

But to other viewers, if I could do it all again (and I might) I would definitely choose the easier second option and just wait for the ports to be available šŸ˜‚
