Also, the car may shutoff for some reason leaving the pet in a hot car.

“Camping Mode” is fine, because you’re right there to take action if something goes wrong. But do not leave your pets in a car unattended. No, not even “for a few minutes” and not even on “Dog Mode.” One process malfunctions, and you’re literally cooking Fido.

Rule of thumb: if you wouldn’t (or couldn’t legally) do something with a human child, don’t do it with a pet either.

New F150 owner. Former owner of 3 Teslas. 2x model S and 1x model X. The very best things about Teslas are 1. Dog Mode and 2. Supercharger network. Ford has adopted the second. They need to adopt the first. I drove 115K of EV miles without a hitch. Very happy to move to Ford, but this is something they just need to do. It's an over the air fix.

[sarcasm font]You must be new here. [/sarcasm font]

Seriously, since 2021 this has been brought up on the Mach-E, then the Lightning. It won't happen anytime soon, if ever.

Dog Mode Fix:

1) Turn off Shutdown Timer.
2) Write on screen: Car running, AC on, Dog safe or tape a sign on it.
3) Exit truck, with fob, lock door with keypad bottom 2 buttons.

Fair enough. Such and easy thing to make better. I ran it yesterday by just turning climate on and extending time in the cab. But that's about 30 minutes. I'll try your method as well. #3 best thing about Tesla was that the inverter allowed about 23-25 mph on the NEMA 15-40 plug. Getting used to 13mph charging. Otherwise loving the F150. Very solid. I drove from Bay Area to Grass Valley yesterday and put eyes on 11x F150 Lighting on I-80 (including mine)

14-50 plug.

The charger is the same speed regardless of vehicle. The distance a kWh can take you is different for each vehicle, and conditions. The estimates provided by apps are often useless.

If you're using a 40amp charger, you'll get at best 8.9kW per hour. How far that takes you depends on the above factors.

A 30amp charger (like the Ford Mobile Charger), will be 25% less per hour.

Dog Mode is not just for the hot, but also the cold. Now that Ford show that the vehicle is running in the FordPass app, it’s much safer. I have a iPad that lives in the Truck as a hotspot, and a Wifi Thermometer and Security camera attached to the wifi…. There are SAFE options. Should something go awry the main thing is to go physically check... And if you would not be able to, then that is an indication at that point, that you should not bring your pet.

I've slept in my Lightning several times overnight with the shutdown timer disabled and the truck running. 8hrs-10hrs. Never had an issue. I've slept with it running. I've slept with it charging.

It's a pleasant experience having climate control keeping me comfy. I'm definitely going to do more car camping this year and sleep in the Lightning.
