Just got my new 2021 F150 XLT 301A and have a question about the 8" touchscreen. upon picking up the truck my salesman showed me how to use CarPlay with the USB as he said It wasn't wireless. I was under the impression that sync4 was wireless. Watched the tutorials on YouTube and they are all wireless. any input would be appreciated.

Pretty sure all Sync4 CarPlay is wireless. Salesmen usually don't know what they're talking about.

This! If you're <50, you probably know WAY more than a salesperson or the 'tech specialist' they usually employ to walk you through the tech. I'd bet most in this forum are overqualified for such a job.

That's the problem. It's been quite a few years since I was <50 and I've been unsuccessful at getting it to go wireless. Just wanted to make sure I'm not beating a dead horse and my setup was capable so I know if it's user error or not.

Maybe see if these steps don't get you up and running.

No worries. It's sort of "just working" for me on my Lariat, and I don't recall having to do anything special to make it work - that's why I looked up in the manual now to see what steps might be. I did see online where they talked about 8 and 12 inch screens and didn't say that wireless was 12" only, so it should work for you, once you sort it out.

Wireless CarPlay works great in my truck. It's been a couple months since I picked up my truck, but I don't recall having to do anything special other than pair them. (BTW - I'm almost 60 and didn't have a problem figuring it out)

I was concerned with the difference between the 8" & 12" versions, I'll give it another go when I get a chance. Thanks!

Make sure that accepting a wifi connection is enabled for you phone as well. Wireless Carplay uses that connection.

Sorry if this is elementary, but do you have you phone hooked up via bluetooth to the truck already? I believe it should automatically recognize apply CarPlay once it is.

I was initially thinking it may not be available on the systems with the eight inch screen, but Sync is the same operating system regardless so that should not make a difference.

Sync4 Carplay can be made exclusively wired. I have done this as I feel it's a better user experience.

Yes, phone is hooked up via bluetooth. I will try starting from scratch again when I get back in the truck and let you know what happens. Thanks again for all the input.
