IMHO, you will NEVER need 80 amp charging - spending money on an option you don't need..
Max Tow / Pro Power is good to have if you tow or need the electric power..
Tow tech used to be required to get the brake controller. Not sure that is still the case. You will want the brake controller if...
Not going to help you much up on the North end of town, but love the service at Wolf Motors down here in Jordan (far South West in Scott County). They are prompt, professional, and always get the work done as scheduled.
The fluid in the differential/final drive is going to age less than the diff/axle in a conventional vehicle. With an active pump and filter, its going to stay clean for a long, long time. With clean fluid, the gears and bearings are going to last nearly forever as well.
My prediction is that...
Easy enough to make the cable of thick enough gauge to not get too hot for the current levels it supports. Its just copper.
And the connection is just a duplicate of what is already happening at the vehicle.
The only slight increased risk is because there is an additional connection to worry...
Why unload by hand when you have a forklift handy?
Brought some heavy boxes of parts home from the shop. With a forklift on both ends, loading and unloading was hardly a chore at all.
Difference being that Musk is actively using the profits right now to attack our democracy, our country, and our way of life. Boycotting his company right now still has a chance of perhaps moderating his Broligarch behavior.
Why would I want to fund a company whose profits accrue to Musk who has openly stated he wants tax cuts for billionaires, add tariffs to protect his profits, deregulate to rape our environment, anti-labor regulations to squeeze more profits out of his workers, cut benefits (SS, Medicaid, ACA)...
Subsidies ARE mandatory participation.
Taxpayers are paying part of the cost for EV''s regardless if they drive one or not.
Same thing on Oil subsidies.
Taxpayers are paying oil companies part of the cost to drill more wells regardless if you think that is a good idea or not or even use oil...
Tesla walking the tightrope as to how fast they are upgrading. I think some of their motivation is non-technical. They want to keep the advantage that Tesla cars can charge at "ALL" Superchargers and the FUD that other brands might not be able to charge at some locations.
On the other hand...
Government subsidies are just looting us taxpayers when those businesses are making record profits. Tesla and Big Oil both no longer need government subsidies. Need to shut those down.
To be clear, Tesla V2 chargers are NOT NACS.
(they only use the same physical connector).
Eventually those V2 chargers will fall into less and less usage as newer model EVs demand faster charging speeds using 800v tech and higher power levels. At some point, they will get upgraded/replaced.
How many miles do you drive each per day? Do you return to the house sucking electron fumes, or more like 25% remaining? Is it every day? Both trucks? How many hours do you actually have for charging?
40 amps will charge the ER from 0 to 100% in about 16 hours.
48 amps will be like 13 hours.
If you enter a trailer into the trailer selection screen, it will remind you every 6 months to "maintain" the trailer when you select that trailer again.
(not sure if this is a feature - more of an annoyance).
(Well I might be living in 2022 prices - my intention was to reference whatever the bottom of work trucks is these days).
My point being that for a given price point, Ford would rather sell an ICE truck because it has higher margin than a comparably-equipped EV. But the EV in many ways is a...
Speculating why Ford would not want to keep selling the Lightning Pr for $39k. Some people say they lose money on each one, but I think that is unliklely.
I do however hink they make _less_ profit compared to selling a comparable ICE model. And the EV is a much nicer truck in many ways...
Same story here. Have a CT reservation since day 1. Meanwhile bought a Ford F150 Lightning Pro. Best truck I have ever owned. Cannot see any real added benefit from the CT. Would definitely not be worth the added $60-$80k to switch. Had the announced CT been a real thing at $49k it would...
