I ran mine on the outside, pics at my installation thread. It was certainly very easy that way. I bet you could go down the side where my speakers went though too. Good luck!
This seller sent me a couple of pictures of a customer vehicle - I think it looks good. Sorry if I stole somebody's thunder from above in this thread, but I wanted to share the pics in case anybody else is as excited as I am about this.
Let me know how your installs work out so I can buy the...
I've been waiting for aftermarket "grille" replacements forever, it seems like. Did the seller say anything about making a camera friendly one? If your early-adopter approach works out, I'll follow suit, but I'll let you do the experimentation for me... ;-)
No major problems to report. Occasionally I think it takes some time to turn on after being sent first signal, so if I try to get CarPlay to read me a text message sometimes the first bit gets swallowed. Normally music starts up before I do that, though, so it's rarely an actual problem. I do...
I have not tried any of the truck-built-in stuff. I never used it before and I’m not about to start now. CarPlay will let the passenger use the keyboard when the truck is moving now, so that’s all I was looking for.
Got it back at lunchtime today. When I texted to ask what they did, I just got:
The paperwork says:
Nothing else of interest, really:
As far as I can tell they did not replace the battery this time. We'll see what happens going forward....
I've started getting these messages daily again. I had this happen once before and they replaced my 12 V battery. Seems like a chronic problem... I do have a couple of aftermarket add-ons, but nothing heavy load. The messages keep coming once I disconnect that stuff, anyway.
Booooooooooooo...
Necessary? Probably not. I'm not sure how salvageable the existing vapour barrier plastic is, though, and you'll definitely need to peel that off to put tiles on the inside of the doors. If it's helpful, you can buy just the plates (as opposed to a full giant kit like I got) from SGS here.
Thanks guys - it was easy to do the door pics, since I had to do two of each, so I could just work through it the first time and then do it more methodically and with pictures the second time. The electronics installation wasn't really like that. It's just tough to take pictures at the same time...
These flush-mount bull rings won't work in the hole you make, though. Their trim hangs over the stake pocket for that flush look. You'll have more cutting to do to make things fit nicely. I tried and gave up.... your perseverance may be greater than mine.
