I'm in WI, 467 miles from the Rouge EV plant. My truck shipped Oct 11th by rail and unloaded in Chicago on the 13th, and it's been parked there at Ramp 73 for 5 days now according to Ford Chat
my delivery time frame from Ford says Oct 17th to Oct 30th.... So I'm not sure how they figure out these time frames.
Tracker shows Built: 10/6 Shipped: 10/8 LastUpdated: 10/11...Dearborn to Billings is about 1500 mi. So maybe 3 - 4 days of hauling? So, it feels like the hauler maybe didn't start the journey until 4 or 5 days after the listed 10/8 ship date? TOTALLY GUESSING.
Couple hours, the battery software update is 90 minutes, and they apply a full 100% charge to the pack for first delivery, might take a bit of additional time, I waived that requirement when I took mine from the dealer.My truck made it to dealership! How long does final prep by dealership take? My salesperson said it can be a couple days, depending on if anything is found wrong with it. That sounds high.
Interestingly, it was delivered to the local rail yard about 20 minutes away on Saturday, 14th, according to Ford Chat. When dealership still didn't have it today, I asked my dealer to check into it, to find out why it's not brought to the dealership. He did say that can take a long time, and certain autos are given priority to get picked up from the rail yard, but he talked to sales manager, and they said they would put priority on getting it to the dealership. Seems strange to sit for 4 days in the rail yard, but I guess everything takes time.
But how long should dealer prep take? Should it really take a couple days to pull off all the plastic, make sure not damaged in shipment, stick on some dealership advertising stickers?

I assumed it would be rail as well, but the window sticker does not indicate Rail (Ramp One: CA42 CONVOY)...I forgot to ask though, so I could be wrong.
Thanks for the info! Mine was built earlier than yours (10/3) but shipped out later (10/15). I'm guessing mine will be delivered about a week after yours.
I believe our esteemed moderator, Taxmanhog, has said they will all show Convoy on the window sticker. If you are a significant distance from the plant it will go by rail then truck the last mile. If you do the Ford chat and ask for an update on your lightning order they usually give you your rail car number and then you can track it via the rail carrier.
That certainly makes the most sense...I had just read differently in other places before arriving here. Either way, it is maybe a couple days out. Then a question of it sitting in a train yard or not, waiting for dealer pickup...yuck.
