When did your truck ship?
1662494741413.png
August 25th. I received the “final inspections” email on the 24th, the tracker updated to “shipped“ on the 25th,” and I received the ”shipped” email early on the 26th.

Edit: To add a couple other points, I have the spray-in bedliner, and the initial estimated delivery dates were September 10-16. The vehicle was shipped via convoy.

Replying to myself here in case registering for UnitedRoad doesn’t work for some (seems hit or miss?). When I tried with my work email, I had success, am able to register, and can see all the deliveries to my dealer upcoming and in the past, including my truck (showing as on hold, presumably because it’s still on a train). I wonder if it automatically denies generic email addresses from gmail, yahoo, etc? Because they want to service dealers, not individual customers? Total guess on my part. But at least I’ll know when it’s headed to my dealer.
I hope I'm on your train/truck.

That is awesome news! I just checked United Road and my vin is still "inactive," which I assume means it hasn't arrived in Richmond yet.
I received an email from Ford to complete my purchase and scheduled my pick up for Saturday.

I picked up my Lightning today. Needless to say, it is awesome. I haven't had much time to drive it yet, but I wanted to provide some details other people may be interested in:
  • I ordered the Platinum trim. The only Platinum feature omission on the window sticker was the "multicontour seat removal." In practice, this meant that the massaging function wasn't available. The dealer had me sign a form acknowledging that the massaging function wasn't present. The form was a checklist of potentially deleted features, and only the massage function was checked.
  • The salesperson suggested that I contact Ford about adding the massaging feature once it's available. We'll see.
  • The lay-flat function also does not appear to be present. Maybe I don't know how to use it, but I reclined both front seats as far back as possible, and there didn't seem to be any way they would end up flat. The back seats being folded up had no bearing on this.
  • The seats themselves still look like Platinum seats. They are the two-tone mostly grey/white color with black/blue striping. I will try and post some pictures tomorrow during daylight. I was really happy to see this was the case.
  • I did not feel any weird hard lumps that other people have reported with multicontour delete seats. I can't say yet whether they're great or not, but they seem fine enough - no worse than my old Lariat seats.
  • All other materials in the interior are Platinum-style/quality. The carpet is surprisingly plush.
  • The bed scale functionality is present.
  • The interior lightning controls are really dumb. It's not clear at all how to have the interior lights on when a door is open, and then shut off when the doors are closed. It's controlled by buttons near the front seat map lights. Right "interior light door open" button needs to be green. Then you need to toggle the left "turn on all interior lights" button by trial and error: press the button, close the doors and lock, see if interior lights fade off, if not press that button again and retry. This should just be a setting on the screen.
  • I wish the running boards were wider. On my Tremor I could confidently put my whole foot on them. On the Lightning it's like half my foot length. Something to get used to.
  • Lots has already been written about the driving experience, but it really is a big improvement over my big heavy diesel. The acceleration is like a Model 3 dual motor.
  • One pedal driving, the acceleration and braking is a bit more touchy than Tesla, meaning that a tiny change on Ford results in a greater adjustment than Tesla. They should adjust this because it's just too harsh. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
  • Finally, I want to acknowledge Morris Ford in Burnt Hills, NY. The purchase process was no bull - no markup over MSRP, and they gave me a fair trade-in price for my F350 Tremor.
I will do my best to get a couple photos up tomorrow.

I don't know if I got used to it or it "broke in" but after about 300 miles in the Lightning 1-pedal driving seems less harsh than it did at first. Only drove a Tesla once so I really don't have a reference point there.

For those still waiting for delivery, it is worth it. Truck is fast and quiet. I love putting the groceries in the frunk rather than my back seat!

We took it for a 150mi RT road trip to my parents house over the weekend. Averaged 2.3 mi/kwh. Around town it is a little better at 2.5 mi/kwh. I love 1 pedal driving. I find I rarely use my brakes. THAT SAID, the combination of Blue Cruise and 1 pedal driving is a little wacky since when you turn off Blue Cruise for any reason it immediately starts slowing down on the highway! Even if you prepare yourself with the pedal slightly depressed it is hard to know exactly the right foot position to maintain speed. It is simple to do but I would suggest turning 1 pedal driving off when you are using Blue Cruise. I probably think they should do this automatically because it could easily become unsafe.

Today is a rainy day in NJ and I was MOST impressed with the handling in the rain! My Ram 1500 never felt great in the rain or snow even in 4WD. Hit the gas a bit too hard and it was easy to make the tires spin. This truck was firmly planted and didn't get squirrely even for a second. 1 weekend and 228 miles (18 came on the truck) in I would say it is a great truck.
Fellow Jerseyan here! My dealer is All American Ford - Old Bridge. Who’s yours?

Welp, yesterday I was told my truck would be here by today. By the Ford chat people. Today I was told it would be Sept 27 - Oct 03? What happened in a day? Not sure. But the chat folks are saying it's in a town only 1 hour from me. They have the "ramp #" and everything.

Any idea why it would be delayed by 3-4 weeks, AFTER it's arrival by rail into my region?

Major shortage of convoy drivers and large overdue inventory in the rail yard.

My delivery date changed from 9/4-9/10 to 9/6-9/12 and the wait is excruciating as time goes on. I was hoping I'd get lucky and be able to pick it up this weekend.
