2024 Flash - heat pump noise/vibration?

Now that the cold has arrived, I have noticed that I can hear and feel a vibration from under the frunk area when demanding cabin heating. This was not something I noticed on my 2023 XLT ER, so I assume it's coming from the heat pump. Seems fairly noisy to me, but wondered what others thought about theirs.

My initial thoughts given the current temperatures is that the heat pump isn't making much difference right now. Temps are in the low 40s currently, but will get cooler as we approach winter.

I've noticed similar noises on cool mornings and guessed that the heat pump was making them. Haven't had time to poke around and verify the guilty party.

Will plan to report on heating performance after we've had a few weeks of what passes for Winter around here. 47°F this morning, so we locals are getting out the down jackets.

I think the more important reports will come from folks who experience real winter. It's easy for heat pumps to work efficiently when it's mildly cool outside, but when it's actually cold, heat pumps have a harder time. Does anybody know if our trucks have backup resistive heaters?

I don't know if lightnings have backup resistive heat but teslas don't. they use the motors to run inefficiently and the heat pump scavenges the excess heat which acts as a substitute for resistive heat backup. maybe ford did the same thing?

I've been noticing some noise when slowly starting off when the heat is on. I wouldn't call it vibration exactly, it seems almost like a low gear hold (in ICE terms). It seems to go away when getting moving a little faster, but not sure if it's just overcome by wind/tire noise.

I haven't gotten out of the truck and listened around the frunk though, so not sure where it's coming from. Maybe I'll do some listening this weekend.

So far I have had temperatures in the 20s and have used the heat pump feature in my 24 lariat extended range. It is so far doing exactly what it supposed to do.! haven’t really tried to compare it as far as efficiency.

I don't have an update other than it still persists. I have a dealer appointment scheduled in early January and will ask them to take a look, but I suspect it will come back as "normal". I think I read a post on Reddit about someone else having the same issue, so apparently Ford NVH guys were asleep when they spec'd the heat pump.

Ignoring the noise, I still cannot say that efficiency is notably better or worse with the heat pump. I have unfortunately changed other variables (I put on new wheels and tires) and can no longer control for just the heat pump variation anymore.

The last thing I will say is that I have noticed the heat pump is running more often as the temperatures fall in my area. We have been below 32F for the better part of a week now and when I drive the truck in those temps, the heat pump runs more continuously. I do not know at what temperature the heat pump will shut down and the truck will fall back to the PTC heater.

Roger. Keep us posted on what the dealer says. Mine seems to vibrate when cabin temps are set higher than 24 Celsius. Outside temps are about 0 Celsius. Did Ford give you any advise from the message above?

When I first had my 2021 F150 Powerboost I asked a question on that forum. Ford immediately answered with the same thing, and I was so encouraged. It felt like they were reading the forums, keeping up with what customer issues were, and trying to help. I messaged them back with my VIN, and all I got was a recommendation to bring it into a dealer of my choosing. Those messages really are just to give the appearance of being involved with their customers. Just another way to market to potential customers. Once you have their product, they are not concerned with how things are working out for you.

I've noticed the same vibration and noise, and it seems to be from the heat pump. A small price to pay for about 4 times the heat from the same charge, IMHO. It's definitely different from our Mach-E which doesn't have a heat pump: Silent heat that eats a little more range.

I would not say that - @Ford Motor Company have reached out to me several times and put me in contact with engineering for issues so they do care about issues customers are experiencing.
