I’m looking for input on how my truck’s performance would be affected by adding a tire much larger/heavier than the stock 275/65/18 tires. Obviously I can expect a hit to my MPG, will I be setting my transmission up for failure as well?

The stock rake and tire size isn’t a pleasing sight to my eyes, and I’d like to give it the GigEmAggies03 treatment (link below), but I don’t want to be driving a turtle either.

Here are 295/70R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the stock 18" sport wheels. Fit perfect, no rubbing!

You'll feel the difference in acceleration since its more rotational mass you're taking on, but with the 10 speed I'm sure the acceleration wont be too bad since it can always down shift to a lower gear for more power. I'm sure you'll be fine, you just wont have the same take off as 3.73 gear trucks. If you don't want to lose too much performance just go with a less aggressive set up like a 2inch lift instead of 2.25 or 2.50, and slightly smaller tire like a 285/70/18 instead of 295/70/18.

I want to take off (training wheels) 245-70-17, & upgrade to a 275-65-18 combo. I talked to a couple of ford dealerships, and they weren’t sure that it was in the VID block, in the engine computer. They said it would cost 1 hr of shop time $135 to see if they could change it. They said they could not be sure if they could change it. It’s a lot of money to see IF They could do it? Does anyone know? It’s a stock tire on a super cab, but not on a regular cab.
