I’ve seen other folks have successfully installed the AMP reasearch powersteps and wondering if anyone has run into the issue of the front driver side motor bumping up against the frame. See pictures below. Note, theses are the smart series steps for the ICE f-150, but I wouldn’t have expected the mounting to be different from the non-ICE versions others have installed.

As you can see from the pictures, it just barely rubs. Thanks for any help.

Yes! I just installed a set of Amp Research Powerstep XL’s on my ‘22 Platinum Extended Range. Mine was not just a rub or touching it was impossible to install without cutting one of the main battery support brackets. Before I shipped them back or called Real Trucks (where I got the steps) or AMP , I laid out / actually temporarily installed the wiring harness from battery thru fender wells, both sides, to see if I could move the motor powered bracket to the back on the drivers side. I could and I did but I had to extend the two purple wires to the OBD with an additional 4 feet of wire and a splice which was not a problem. Passenger side was not an issue. A little disappointing when I called Real Trucks and was referred immediately to AMP and said Real Trucks was just a reseller and found the steps thru yet another reseller and shipped them to me. Not what I expected. I did let AMP know about the problem and the wiring diagram under the dash needs PIN numbers because the truck tap location is hard to detect a little blue line on a green wire. Ivan in tech support at Amp Research was great. In 30 seconds Ivan figured out the (my) wiring issue and emailed actual pictures to help with the truck taps.

Took me about 12 hours total, no lift, just a creeper and a creepy old man. The motor issue. Wire color code and very close tolerances on the step to brackets interlocking grooves in total all cost me about 5 hours in extra time.

I took a picture of how the main battery frame bracket was conflicting with the power step motor. The dark (moist) spot is about the area which would have to be removed for the power step motor to be mounted on the driver side front part of step. Works fine on the back but an extension in two wires are required. The other pictures are of the finished product, non powered step bracket installed in the driver front location
