Bed Power Outlet Swap

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experience with the Bed Power Adapter Swap.

I currently have the F150L XLT SR, which comes with a single outlet in the bed. I’m interested in upgrading to add more outlets and would love to know if this is possible.

If anyone has done this or has insights, I’d appreciate your feedback or advice.

In case you didn’t know, you have the 2.4 kW ProPower. This has a single 2400 Watt inverter that powers outlets in the frunk, cabin and bed. It can serve 20 amps total at 120 volts.

The 9.6 kW Pro Power adds another 7200 Watt inverter that includes a 240 V, 30A outlet with additional bed outlets.

I haven’t heard of anyone adding the 7.2 kW inverter (requires hooking into the 300VDC+ HVB system). Best you could do is somehow add more 120 outlets to your existing inverter (but still limited to 20 amps total). Much cheaper to just get a triple tap e.g., https://a.co/d/aezjlm5

Or you could always add an after-market inverter wired to 12V. Be careful, the Lightning 12V battery is small so you want the truck on.

there would be too much work and cost to add another inverter... and the wiring scheme within these trucks is not your 'typical' easy-to-customize, like at your home...

a simple solution, though, is just to use a good 'ol regular everyday multi-outlet, to serve all your bed needs... although, yes, you're still limited to 120v 20amps, in total...

the additional outlets you see in some of our Lightnings is the additional 120v 20amp set, AND the added 240v 30amp twist-lock outlet - but, these are served by a totally separate and MUCH more powerful 240v Inverter. These inverters are NOT cheap, and built specifically for this scenario, and for 'outdoor' weather and moisture.
