Remind me in two years and I’ll let you know. But as of right now, I’m rocking with it and it has been a fantastic addition.

It’s a lot of unjustifiable criticism based on antiquated stereotypes of the region. Some are bad therefore all must be bad and let’s not give any a chance — us US folks must be perfect.

Do you really, truly believe there is no value in maintaining a brand? You don't see the potential downsides to not having to do that? They have your money and the brand doesn't matter, so they have no obligation to help you if anything goes wrong. They've even already lied to you.

  1. The link you provided does not correspond to the product I purchased. You linked to a manual retractable cover, which is entirely different from the product I bought.
  2. If you had carefully read my review, you would see that I expressed a clear willingness—and even a preference—to purchase the EGR electric tonneau or the Retrax EQ. However, after contacting EGR and learning that they themselves did not recommend their electric tonneau for the Lightning, I chose this product instead. I made this decision knowing it was priced at less than half the cost of those alternatives—a price I was prepared to lose if the product turned out to be subpar. I acknowledge this perspective comes from a place of privilege that not everyone shares.
  3. Using your same logic, if we apply it to the actual product that that bought, here's what you would find. Remember, according to you, "they filter out all the fake reviews". FYI, that isn't what fakespot does. They apply a machine learning algorithm for AI text identifiers and adjust the ratings based on perceived bot generated reviews. I respect people's buying decisions. Mine wasn't driven by Amazon reviews, but the totality of research I've done on electric retractable covers over the last month or two.
Regarding your point about companies lying: you're correct that this is a widespread issue, not limited to companies of international origin. In my experience, I’ve been equally surprised by both the excellent and the terrible customer service from domestic and international companies alike.

To address your question about whether I care about maintaining a brand—no, not really. Many companies build a strong brand reputation only to license their name to substandard products. There's also no company that hits it out of the park with every product, and some handle that instances quite differently. I'm not invested in preserving the illusion of quality where it doesn’t exist.

My post wasn't meant to be an endorsement of the brand, the company or the region. I don’t know these guys. I’m not trying to shill for them. I wasn’t asked to post my review. I copied my same review to Amazon with the accommodating critique and star rating.

I just wanted to share my experiences in the event someone else was looking at the same product.

My recent purchase of a tri fold cover from Realtruck was suppose to come with a $150.00 visa virtual rebate credit card.

It's definitely virtual. 12 weeks and still waiting. Seriously, how long does it take to process a virtual card where they email you a number?

But then again I'm also waiting on 1 from t-mobile that goes back to July.

Or the $1500.00 of Amazon gift cards from June that don't work. So far I've received a $500. Refund, still waiting on the additional $1500. I'm sitting on..
Yes a $2000. Purchased on June 19th 2024.

All 3 are American companies.

At least the Chinese company refunded a substantial amount of money when I had issues with their same electric top.
