On a search for a lower amperage evse to throw in the frunk for my trip to Maine I wound up finding the Splitvolt, and opted for the 24a version. Not too much info about them from my quick research but the price was nice.

Otherwise I found the same issue and opted to not buy one of these fly by night Amazon sellers. If the Ford mobile charger was an adjustable amperage I would've just gone with a used one of those.
I have used the SplitVolt for nearly two years and it has worked just fine. I have the version with the NEMA 10-30 plug and then have a NEMA 14-30 to NEMA 10-30 adapter for newer dryer sockets. I always check the temperature of the cable at new charging locations but so far it has worked really well at about six different locations including some Hatteras Island rental houses where the dryers are usually on the first floor and I have a 50 foot 30 amp extension cord.
