Here is what happened… twice on the same road trip.
I have Blue Cruise on at 74mph and then by itself it increases speed to 90. 70 is the posted speed limit. I think it’s reading speed limit signs wrong. Scared the crap out of me when it happened and took me a moment to realize I hit 90 mph!!! The truck is quiet and it takes a moment to realize what is happening. I had a Tesla M3 prior with fully autonomous and put a lot of trust in it. Well, Blue Cruise is a comfort but trust is not there yet.
Be safe y’all.

Yes, it did just that, there is a switch to turn of the function.

BTW, BlueCruise "HANDS FREE" should disengage above 80 MPH

And I’ve had the opposite experience.

I feel like AP is trying to kill me on a daily basis with phantom braking, abrupt acceleration and swerving…….

The sudden change in acceleration with Blues Clues needs to be addressed.

Sounds like odd behavior, but I have to say I use it all the time when on the Hwy and it has never done anything I couldn’t explain based on the settings I have setup. As mentioned check the strings for Speed Sign Recognition and Tolerance Adjustment.

My money is there.

my belief is that no vehicle should be trying to 'read' SPEED signs, and should rely solely on the DRIVER to manage the speed... this is where technology should bow to reality: there are just too many variables for this to be acceptable practice - and the only way to control this, and to 'keep your family safer', is to turn OFF the 'Speed Sign Recognition' option.... at least for now.

I want to drive the route again and see if some smartass painted the signs to edit them from 70 to 90. Still, BC should know that there isn’t a speed limit of 90mph in all North America.

I didn’t think BlueCruise read signs. I thought it’s all programmed

Speed sign recognition is part of the adaptive cruise control and driver assistance - not specifically BlueCruise. I turned it off months ago just because I like to be in charge of changing my speed up or down and had a few “pucker” moments myself when I had it on.

It was just doing what it thought you wanted it to - but unfortunately the GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) effect took over - it was not trying to kill you. 😬

Visual recognition accuracy in these systems is still being perfected and one of the reasons I would be reluctant to use a system that only relied on cameras and no other sensors like some vendors are trying to do - I prefer multiple sensing even if it costs more.

Speed sign recognition constantly interprets 55 MPH signs to read 85 MPH. I don't anyone changed the signs. It's just unreliable. That's why many people turn it off.

My truck reads the route numbers at times as the speed limit. Mostly if the route number background is white.
