I used my first Ionna charger last week (Scranton PA), must have been right before this update was pushed because I had to pay by credit card. Really liked the experience. Charger worked well and was cheaper than the EA charger in Scranton.
Did you use the Blue Oval Network? I set it up when I got my 2024 Flash back in September; used it once - actually kind of by mistake. I tried to use my EV6 Kia free hours at Electrify America and, I guess because the procedure I used, when I used my iPhone it reverted back to the Blueoval network and cost me about $18. I wouldn't have let it go that long. This brings me to my question: Will it be more expensive to use the BON than if one just used each carrier's own app? I'll bet that it is. I think the only EA station that is in my area charges @.48 kWh.

Hi Literider150 - BlueOval Charge Network is never more expensive than using the provider's own pay-as-you-go rate, Ford doesn't add any markups, the price you pay is directly calculated by the network themselves - so no, it's no extra cost at all.

On the topic of Ford's BlueOval Network, does it carry over for people from one country to another? For example, I'm in Canada but if I took a road trip to the US and attempted to use an IONNA charger, will it charge my currently linked Canadian credit card (with backend currency exchange) or will it tell me I'm not in my country and I have to trigger the charger manually?

Yes, with an asterisk. BlueOval Charge Network transactions are billed in the local currency, to your card on file by either Ford or Ford of Canada, depending on the location of the charger, not the user. Charger in Canada = Ford of Canada in CAD, Charger in US = Ford in USD. So regardless of which side of the border, the process is the same, no extra steps needed unless you're an American and the asterisk below applies.

The asterisk:

US -> Canada: Ford of Canada doesn't take American Express cards or Discover cards, so switch your card to a Visa or MasterCard before heading north of the border to avoid any issues.

Not sure that is totally accurate.

If you use Plug n Charge option with Blue Oval and you have a discounted subscription with a particular provider you will not get the discounted rate. You will be charged the onsite rate at that time. At least that’s the way I understand it by reviewing the subject matter over the past two years.

It's accurate - you get the pay-as-you-go rate, same as tapping your credit card or using the Electrify America app without a paid membership. There is no extra fee.

What you're referring to is a paid discount subscription, which is a totally different thing. Not getting a discount is not the same thing as paying extra.

Correct, but I believe that's why he said the providers "pay-as-you-go" rate and not membership rate. If you have an EA membership where it's discounted, it's best to pre-activate the charger with EA than to use P&C. At least last I heard. I believe Ford was working on something for that but imagine it will be a while before they work it all out.

Drove by the one in Abilene, KS a few weeks ago. They are priced too high. There is a V3 SC less than 1/4 mile away that costs much less.
Two years ago I couldn’t imagine shopping for the cheapest charger. You just had to use the only one nearby. It’s a nice change to now have options and eventually they’ll start competing on price.
