Anyone else disappointed withe the brakes? mine seem to require a lot of pressure and when coming to a full stop they grab and release. i take pride in providing a comfortable riding experience for my passengers and no matter how hard I try to be smooth braking and feathering the brake pedal I can have a smooth and consistent stopping experience.

it’s been an issue since new. I thought maybe it just needed to break in but I now have almost 12,000 miles and it’s no better. And, the last few weeks I hauled a 4-5,000 pound camping trailer up and down mountain passes in Colorado. The braking was actually better with he trailer connected and the brake controller/trailer brakes working versus unloaded.

maybe I’m being to picky but my 2016 did not seem to be this way. They are especially grabby in the morning after sitting. I’m not sure it is so pronounced that the dealership will be able to discern there is an issue. Im Thinking someone smarter than me who knows what might be going on (bad pads, warped rotor, etc) might be able to give some advice on what I can tell the dealer to look for.

thanks

Not sure about this as I had been driving sticks since the 70s and this is my first AT truck ( used trans for most braking)
Also this is the first year of electric power brakes.
I noticed a light rumble the closer I got to nearly stopped only after some on this forum brought it to light.
could be the electrics operating, but I’m not sure.
The truck does make weird noises when I get in an push the pedal before I start it—kinda sounds and vibrates the same as the brakes feel when slowing.

From reviewing the manual, all models are hydraulic brakes with the booster being electric. I imagine the power boost has regenerative brakes but can‘t find any reference in the manual to that.

Edit: yes, per page 221 the poweboost does additionally have regenerative brakes.

no power boost for me——coyote
But perhaps the Grabbing and extra effort is related to the brake generators activating?

Pretty sure electric power brakes are across the board along with electric power steering.

since all of my cars behave differently from the other regarding steering and brakes, I just got the attitude, ‘something different to get used to’.

Well, I’ve been watching more closely and I think I know what is going on. They are “grabby” at low speeds so I started watching my tach and the gear selection. I think it is dropping gears as i brake so I’m getting some slight engine braking when it drops from 5th to 3rd I get a little “help” from the engine.

maybe this is more pronounced now after being on vacation and running about 3,000 miles in tow mode with a lot of engine braking through the mountains pulling the trailer?
