Maybe a week ago I noticed a minor burning smell from the rear of the truck. I had just gotten a new travel fridge and figured it was the compressor breaking in.

Fast forward to today…the fridge is unplugged and I noticed the same burning smell. I thought it was odd but figured..maybe it’s been hot and it’s the motors. Maybe I went over something and it’s burning off.

I dismissed it and went inside.

An hour later my wife tells me the garage smells like it’s burning. I go back outside and now the smell is significantly stronger. I did my best toucan Sam impression and smelled everywhere. It was definitely from the rear, tailgate, drivers rear wheel well, taillight area smelled the worst. There’s no smoke. No warning lights.

I ended up unplugging it from the 32A mobile charger and backing the truck out of the garage. I still need to charge it for a trip tomorrow so I plugged it into a different charger - 80A but unfortunately it’s the one that reaches as far away from the house as possible.

I’ve had some smells here and there from previous EVs but never this strong. Anyone else get a weird smell from theirs?

That’s over where the pro power in the bed is, maybe something is up with that panel? Is that where you had the fridge plugged in?

I can't imagine charging after smelling a burning smell until I knew it wasn't related to the charging.

I hadn’t considered that, good call out. The first time it was plugged into the Pro Power, the 2nd time it wasn’t.

I had some minor comfort knowing I charged multiple times the past week without the burning smell and was able to get far enough away from the house on a charger on the other side of the property.

Unfortunately I needed the truck and live in a rural enough area that Uber/Lyft really isn’t an option.

If it would’ve went up it would have taken the truck, the camper and the shed. Would’ve stunk but at least loss of life wouldn’t have been a concern
