Hi All,

New to the list and a new owner of a slightly used 2022 Lightening. Question is - the center console storage compartment lid has no spring to keep the lid open and I'm wondering if this is normal or is mine broken? Weird that it wouldn't have it, so I'm thinking it's broken, but was hoping someone can tell me definitively if it should remain open with a tension spring.

Thanks,
Tom

The early models used a weak spring and some members figured out that you can put nickels under the springs to increase tension.

My 2023 was built in October and the lid stays open so they must have switched to beefier springs in the newer builds.

My June 2023 build still had the weak springs. Haven't modified it yet.

I'd tell you how to fix it, but it's going to cost you $0.20.

Thank you everyone - I was able to fix it with the nickel idea. A little effort and 20 cents did the trick
