Can anyone confirm if this could be true?
I received my invitation to order in Jan and placed it on the 29th. I then decided to forgoe the rebate and upgrade to the ER. I contacted my dealer and asked them to submit the change and I was told that they are locked out of the system to make changes to my order because they are only allowed to when Ford says it's my turn. Anyone heard that one before?

I think your dealer is confused. Once your order is submitted, they have to accept it and are supposed to confirm pricing and all that. You can make changes to the order -- through your dealership -- up until the point you are scheduled for production and issued a VIN. Making changes after the VIN can still be done in some rare instances, but generally no...

I'd contact your dealership again and have them pull up your order and see what they can do. Otherwise call Ford customer service. Should be able to alter/change things at this point just fine since you were only invited a week ago. Did the dealership confirm and accept your order after you submitted it online?

Yea my order was accepted by the dealer.
Has it been entered officially into Ford's order system ?
Have your dealer check if ROVP/COVP date is confirmed.

So I got thru to my sales rep today. He says, Ford began doing this because too many customers would modify their order multiple times and many in hopes of speeding up their build so they now restrict changes until Ford is ready to build

Small update. We fast forward a few months and I get the ok to make those changes, to then be told Ford won't accept any changes. If I'm sure I want those edits, I need to place a new order and might as well since order books are open to everyone now.

I suggest if you put a new order in with different dealer! Those folks obviously are clueless!

Maybe it's luck but after this, I checked another local dealer to see if they had any Lightnings on the lot and down to the very detail, I today walked off the lot with the Lightning I wanted. I am now a proud owner of a Lariat ER in Carbonized Gray, for MSRP,no dealer markup. Only kinda sucks that I traded in a 0% ford financed 21 PB for a 6.something%

I hear you. I too traded a 0% Maverick that was 2/3rds paid for for the biggest auto loan w/% that I’ve ever had. But hey I marked off a bucket list item doing so.

Now if I only live long enough to see humans walk on Mars.

Congrats and Happy Lightning. 😊

It's amazing that only 2 years ago 0% was a thing on an auto loan
