There are over 3,000 Ford dealers in the US. As I recall, there are over 2,200 Ford EV dealers.

There are numerous threads where people discuss "bad behaving dealers", and some created a list. I would wager the if someone really counted them all up, the number wouldn't even be half, and wouldn't be large, as part of that 2,200.

My dealership actually made the WSJ refusing to mark up vehicles.

I ordered through a small dealership on April 15. The dealer had not accepted my order after a couple of days (but they did take my $500). So I printed off my order info and took it in to the sales manager. He said the GM would be back in the next morning. I got a call the next morning that my order was accepted and he told me that my info had "opened the flood gates" for other orders that apparently had also not been accepted.

So two days ago I sent him a text wondering where I stood in line with the other orders. Here was his reply, "You are in our allocations top 10. We haven’t seen a build schedule yet. But you're in a good position."

I have no idea what this means. If they only have 5 allocations this year...50/50 chance of getting a truck this year?

If Ford let you submit an order then you have a 22 coming. The lightning is not like other Ford products. My understanding is that Dealers get allocations and they submit orders for customers and it is up to Ford how/when they actually get scheduled. With the lightning ford gives the customer the ok to order and they are only allowing as many orders as they think they can fulfill. Whether you are #1 or #10 at a dealer, if you get the ok to order from Ford you are getting your truck. The prioritizing is for your spot in line to order. It is possible that your truck will be built before the first customer in prioritization ordered truck is built and you get yours first. The truck build scheduling is not in wave order/order of ordering. The truck build scheduling is based on manufacturing optimization. The first trucks ordered are likely to be the first trucks built, but that does not mean that a truck ordered in mid January will not be built after a truck ordered in early March.

She should go with the Lariat or Plat, and then when she gets the invite, move it. Probably too late given what she already asked the dealer.
