Just to preface, my electrician is doing this for me. But I like to be educated and get as much info as I can.
I currently have Tesla Solar with their own inverter, no battery, using Net Energy Metering, and called Delta to see if I am supposed to just have the Tesla inverter swapped out for the 10kw Bi-directional inverter, or if I need to T-it into the Bi-directional inverter in some way. (I wasn't reading anywhere that the home integration system’s bidirectional inverter will operate the same as the tesla inverter during normal operations; ie powering the house electronics and sending energy back to the grid or even to the truck during high output. But wishing).
Anyway, he didnt really know much about the tesla inverter so I'm going to tesla now to ask for their info, but he was very taken aback by how i even received the Home integration system from AEE online. He said the info he has is that Sun Run should be doing all of this. I told him Sun Run doesn't service all 50 states and he had no idea after that.
Anyway, I think the way the diagrams are written, the Tesla inverter gets replaced with the Bidirectional inverter. I'm just hoping to inverter doesn't have any special equipment on it as i see as of 2017, R should be at the panels, and my system was put in on about 2021. I also learned the Tesla inverter is a Delta inverter. Maybe it should be plug much and play with that.
Would love other's input.
edit: got an email from Tesla. Their inverter doesn’t really have much to it. And the rapid shut off devices conform to national spec and are at the panel. Should be plug and play. Betting I Won’t be able to use the Tesla app anymore though
