While unlikely, there is talk (again) about a limited BBB deal that Manchin will agree to prior to the November election. One of the items is the EV rebate, which is seemingly okay with him as there are still coal powered plants in the US.

Well when checking my order for a build date today (and every damn day), I noticed the $100 destination/delivery increase to $1,795 that has been discussed here, putting my order over $80k, and making it ineligible for the stalled rebate program.

In a call to Ford, they said that 1. They honor the price that I agreed to when I placed the order, and 2. That D&D is not part of the price, and is under dealer control. They said Ford will charge the dealer $1,695, and the dealer can revise it downward (and apparently are the ones who increased it, which seems wrong as it is not what they are paying).

I sent the dealer an email with the above and am awaiting a response.

I donā€™t see how that is the case when if you build on the ford website it lists the destination is $1,795. I can see the dealer pumping that number up however I donā€™t think you will get it cheaper. My online accepted and scheduled build price changed on me randomly without any input or agreement from me.

I rushed to get the order in the day I got the invite and it was $1,695. If I put down $1,000 considering the deal, including no ADM, I don't see how it can change on the website (but the dealer can try to up-sell at delivery).

And the deal was that I would step up to a Lariat ER to get a MY22, while keeping the price below $80k. That deal has now changed. If the EV credit changes (and D&D is included in the limit), I will not get that rebate, and lose the current rebate. That is a huge change in the value proposition!

Hang in thereā€¦I get your anxiety, but I think you may be ā€™Okā€™ ā€¦. I do believe the $80k BBB EV price limit provision applies to the manufacturerā€™s suggested price (MSRP??) per the follow summary: https://energyinnovation.org/wp-con...e-Incentives-in-the-Build-Back-Better-Act.pdf . The question is are theY referring to the ā€œBaseā€ MSRP, or the ā€Totalā€ MSRP. Hopefully, it will be the formerā€¦..

Delivery charges, dealer prep and any dealer markup are not part of the ā€œBaseā€ MSRPā€¦.it would be such an unmanageable moving target for the IRS to deal with the ā€œTotalā€ MSRP given option choices vary so much with every customer, every dealer can be different for these markups, and delivery costs can change over time.

Another optimistic hopeā€¦that your order gets a build date and shipment to you before any Fed Tax Credit changes are madešŸ¤žšŸ˜ƒ

As for the shipping cost change, or any cost add-on, by K****** Ford, shame on them if they do that to youā€¦makes me glad I went with the local dealerā€¦ā€¦

I hear you. It was unclear if D&D would be included. Another article on BBB mentioned an attempt to limit it to $40k. I just hope to get the current credit, and am still very happy to get a shot at a MY22. At worse, I will buy it, drive it, and sell it if there is a better fit (Pro ER) available for me later.

As to the dealer you alluded to, they have been great, and I am expecting a response today. I found it weird that Ford pointed at them, as so many others on this forum have had this happen to them. I think they were just trying to manage me, and did not have a reasonable answer regarding their website. Although there is a new thread of a dealer somehow adding ADM to the order page after the fact:censored:

With the EV capacity bottlenecked by battery production and you can hardly buy a EV and take delivery within a few months, I don't see any reason why they need to add/increase the tax credit. I don't see any chance. But, thumb down for Manchin.

Higher tax credit (especially if a point of sale credit) would let manufacturers raise prices, that means more profit and more investment in production capacity = more EVs, faster

BBB, is not happening given the nations economic condition, politics and mid-term elections, nothing earth shaking like the BBB is going to pass (JMHO)

As I understand it Fords price protection guarantee should cover you on this change.

Ford is not earning a $100 tip on delivery right now. To be fair they do have until this Thursday to meet the 20 week estimate provided at 1/6 order.

You guys are way overthinking this. The fact is that Ford jacked up the price because they knew buyers would get the tax credit. If the tax credit goes away Ford will lower the price. Either way youā€™re going to be paying about the same price.

Agree. Take the $7500 credit and be happy.

I doubt. Ford is not Tesla.

Their estimate was 20+ weeks. The only thing they were estimating is it wouldn't take less than 20 weeks. Wisely, nothing was promised by Ford.
