my Tremor arrived this week and I stopped by today to check it out. The dealership installed wheel locks.

i don’t know a single person in my life who has had their wheels stolen. They are more of a PITA than anything.

will obviously have them removed before I pick it up.

I'm not a wheel lock guy. You either love them and lose sleep if you don't have them. Or like me, I don't worry about them.

Had them on to protect my Keystone rims back in the 70s......spent way to much on them.

I have had them in the past and I also sold them at my place of employment . I always had a spare key and strongly suggested that people purchased a spare key because the key always broke at the worst possible moment. I also never knew anyone that had their wheels stolen. I would tell your dealer to take them off.In my opinion they are not worth the trouble.

My brother bought a new power wagon a week later it broke down on his way home from work. It was late so he was going to deal with it in the morning tow truck called said the truck was sitting on blocks. I'll be keeping my locks on

The anti-theft alarm system, when armed (vehicle switched off), will activate on any attempt to raise your vehicle, for example to remove a wheel or to tow it away. I believe you also get a notification in the Ford Pass App as well.

It only takes about 30 seconds more per wheel to remove a locked wheel lug without a key- It's not hard to do. Motivation for a thief to select a different target without locked wheel lugs may not be enough of a deterrent especially since the anti-theft alarm system is going to go off anyway.

There are much easier things for thieves to steal and sell with value. In my opinion a thief will steal something else easier - then they will purchase the wheels they want legally.

And, they would have been gone with locks on them anyway. If they went through the trouble to leave it on blocks, they had the tool to break the locks....

All my vehicles have come with them so I’ve just left them on. Personally I’ve never had an issue with wheel theft, but something about them gives me a false sense of security. I realize if someone wants them bad enough, they’ll get them.

I had wheel locks on a prior vehicle. Any time I went to a garage to have an oil change and tire rotation, they never used the key. Most garages can remove the wheel without your key I believe. If they can do it, so can the thieves if they have the proper tools. Not all will, so its a gamble either way

My friend's wheels got stolen all 4 at once.

I have for 22" rims. Do not care much for 18" . Cheap to buy locks.

Uncle walked outside for work one day and his explorer was gone.
They pushed it one street over and left it on blocks.

a vehicle in the motorcade for the mayor of Detroit had the wheels stolen off of it while it was parked at an event the mayor was at.

Im sure it depends on where you live but being in the industry for quite some time I have sold quite a bit of wheel locks, have also had to remove alot from people loosing the keys or stripping them out.

Not something I’d actually bother to spend money on, but yes, I’ve seen them stolen before as crazy as it seems. What you need a lock for now though is your cat…

I also this was just a dealership scam so they could tack on an extra $200 or whatever for a $4 part. I have always argued with dealers to take them off if they are installed and they just throw them on for free because they don’t want to bother with the hassle.

EDIT: Also I have always ended up taking them off on vehicles I own. Prior 3 cars I had winter wheels/tires to avoid having to bring someplace to swap them and I hate dealing with the locks. Ended up stripping one with an impact wrench I had misaligned. I ended up bringing it to the VW dealer I had bought the car from where they were generous enough to extract it for free.
