Trip Report: Drove from DFW Metroplex to Canton, TX today to visit family, have Tex-Mex, and go to a local car show. Beautiful day, got 2.3kWh averaged at 75mph on I-20. East Texas is not the charging desert it once was, L2 and DCFC’s are popping up everywhere.
I was surprised that there were L2 Tesla chargers with CCS adapters. I plugged in and went into eat for about 1.5 hours. I was able to get about 40mi of range which was great to get us all the way back home.
However, when I arrived back to our Lightning at the corner of the building. There was a newish F-350 with a massive lift kit, flared offset wheels, and longhorns on the grill. You know, typical Texas big dick energy brodozer. Fine. Well, the POS had parked not only in an EV spot (not uncommon to get ICED), but they parked about 6 inches from my truck to be a dickhead to the EV guy. I had my son in his stroller and his car seat on the side pinned in by the F-350.
We dealt with it and moved on with our day, but I’m not gonna lie that it really pissed me off, I hate the politicalization of EV’s and this weird superiority complex that 3/4 Ton truck owners seem to have in North Texas (probably elsewhere too). I don’t know why people can’t just mind their own business instead of just being needlessly angry at the electric car and its driver.
