Mine is doing the exact same thing. I have it mounted in about the same place but I do not have any tint on the windows (because like another responder I am also in VA). But about 5% of the time my transponder doesn't read and I get a nasty postcard from the EZ Pass people.
Interesting. Glad to know it isn't just me. I did just move it to a spot directly below the mount point for the rear view mirror. Guess we will see how it goes with it installed there instead.

Mighty big. Might be some new tech. I used to have that big block. They sent me new ones that are just a sticker. About three inches long 3/4 inch tall and just thicker than copy paper.
They had instructions to not return block just throw it away.

I don't put my toll tag on the window because in TX they will bill you by matching your plate. They don't like it and they have sent a letter before, but they still do it, so I just keep my tag in the console.

On the flip side I also have a State Farm Drive Safe and Save transponder and I've put it on the moon roof. Far back corner. I rarely open the shade back to the second half so I never see it unless I'm washing the truck and see it from above. You might try it up there too - it should read through the moon roof.
