I think the "start" button in the app disables all schedules and limits and charges to 100%. Then when you change the charge limit (which seems to be a permanent change for that location?) it re-enables the schedule, so if you had a later charging window start, it would stop the ongoing charge.

They really haven't made it clear whether or not it's following the schedule at any given moment. Or more importantly, given us finer grained control over that.

I've noticed some other oddities about when it will start or stop if it thinks it can't finish the charge within the scheduled window. Bottom line yes, the user experience feels half baked.
Thank you for some validation. I have my home setup to charge from 10pm (clean energy time) to 10am each night. Sometimes I need to start the charge earlier than scheduled. That’s where FordPass should be useful, but almost always results in overriding the target charge set in the app AND the target charge for a known location. It does neither ha!

Not to mention the weird question mark response on the app when starting the charge or changing the target charge level.

Here is a Screen Recording video link with my FordPass experience. So many things wrong with this app. Please some tell me their experience is not the same?

  1. Vehicle and Energy tabs do not show consistent charge status
  2. Waiting to charge time is displayed when already charging
  3. Stopping a charge doesn’t respond and from the energy tab
  4. Starting a charge defaults to 100% charge target
  5. Unable to change charge target while charging or not charging
  6. Very long charging command responses, endless loading.

Why do you need to start the charge early? There may be another way to do what you are trying to do. If you elaborate someone might be able to help.

Starting a charge defaults to 100% charge target
That is as-designed behavior. I use it to charge during non-preferred times when I want more SOC than my everyday max. It is very useful for this application.
