So for the second time I’m having frunk issues and can’t find anyone else with this specific problem. Went camping with the family and had a packed frunk. Went to close it up and it didn’t quite latch all the way. I had to manually close it at this point.

Now it seems like there is a 2 stage latch and the first time I had issues I could get the initial “pop” to happen but then the second stage wouldn’t open. Eventually Ford had to replace the whole frunk latch assembly.

Now it seems like the 1st stage or initial “pop” is broken and the motor doesn’t recognize it and tries to lift the hood anyway. I can manually pop it and then hit the frunk button and it opens. It closes as well but seems to miss the final “pull”. Has anyone had this issue and could fix it without taking into service? Any help appreciated!

Good morning. I would like to take a closer look at your Lightning's frunk issues on my end. To get started, can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer?

Open the frunk, pull the ground off the battery, then manually close the frunk all the way after reconnecting the battery.

It may need a reset?

Holy smokes! Guys, I have read the frunk threads, and have I got one for you. I drove for 7 hours with the dang frunk ajar alarm going off. It would not stop and it will not open. I think that it might be my “struts” I have an appointment Wednesday Nov8th at my local Ford dealer, (Landmark ford Tigard OR), VIN 1FTVW1EV0PWG06114. I have a long 6 hour
drive coming up and this will stink!

Have anything to do with the FORscan changes you made to disable the frunk beeps?

I didn’t change any FORscan items. I took out the back up beep, and the frunk beeper. I had a problem once before with the frunk not being able to close, but it healed itself. This time it has been doing this for a few days now. We were in a downpour the hours before it started throwing this fit. It is securely shut and is still alarming

There is a thread out here that discussed an issue with water penetrating the frunk light and open/close switch.

Might search that out and see how that ended.

Turns out that it was the frunk latch. no other concerns with the struts.
