Has anyone taken apart a Regular (non work surface) center arm rest?

Seems to be a massive cavity of space in the armrest. Was wondering if anyone has tried a mod to claim this space as storage.

Was thinking of taking it apart to try and add a wireless charger. Will be a few weeks before I get to it though.

I will say the standard console lid seems needlessly thick. Looking forward to what comes up.

I partially opened mine from underneath, enough to see that latch takes up a lots of the space

Considering how easy the work surface swap seems based on a video I saw, I am curious what other after marker console accessories will come about overtime. Extra storage, larger work surface area, etc.

I’d say to watch the video, it is of a guy who swapped his between a vehicle that had a worksurface and one without
