I thought that bridge looked familiar, what kind of range hit are you seeing while towing with the temps in PDX? I need to tow a CR-V to Idaho and am wondering how much warmer I should let it get before I go so I'm not dealing with both the temperature and towing range hit.
My numbers won't be representative of any normal situation... I live up a 1400' elevation grade from town so I have to pull everything up that twisty grade, and I have heavy, knobby Mickey Thompson tires, a heavyish foot, and a rack that sticks into the slipstream up top. That said, I get 1.3 as a daily, hauling and towing pretty much weekly...
tbh in your shoes, I might rent an ICE truck for that task but it's doable... (Idaho kind of sucks for infrastructure)
Cheers and good luck

Here's a pic of this morning's adventure. 24 bales of straw (2-string) for our strawberry patch in my 6x12 dump trailer.

Pulls like there's nothing back there at all, and I live uphill from where I pick up loads. This load is on the light end of things at 3k more or less for the empty trailer and probably 1200 lbs of straw but even with 2 yards of gravel for my driveway or large rocks for the water feature I'm building, the Lightning makes towing a breeze IMO. Dump runs are as straightforward as grocery runs and I've yet to come anywhere close to range anxiety.

15k miles and hope I have it forever.

Cheers

PS- New front window tints and roof rack added to the SmartCap since my last post as well :)

PPS- If anyone near PDX needs straw, I've got a guy on Sauvie Island, PM me for info.
I could be convinced ;)

Good to see another PNW'er putting their truck to work. Mine does a lot of hauling, and pulls several cubic yards of dirt like they're not even there. (My trailer isn't big enough for a larger load).

If you're interested, back in 2022 We towed a car all the way to Colorado over at Transport Evolved.

It's a while back and I was a lot larger, but the data still holds.

- Part 1
- Part 2
- Part 3

There's a part 4, but it's basically juts us going back without a trailer lol.

Thank you, that trip through the gorge and up through Deadman's pass was exactly what I was looking for, and with the same trailer I'm looking to pull.

I gotta say I was amazed at how effortlessly my new Lightning towed a 10,000 lb 20-foot flat deck loaded. More capable than my 2500 Ram with the same load behind it for short runs.
Pulling out of a stop light from dead stop, it easily pulled ahead of an empty pick up in the next lane beside me, even pulling the 10,000 lbs and some ice on the roadway.
I gotta say: Mr Farley, this is some machine you have built here. Love it.

I personally avoid using the Supercharger network where possible because... I'd rather not give that company my money. However, I would advise you have a NACS adapter for that trip. The charging networks in eastern Oregon are terrible.

I agree. Best tow vehicle I’ve ever had

I have done no suspension work to my trucks, as I like the factory geometry and handling for my curvy road home, and a lift would slow me down in the corners. The truck comes 'raked' from the factory, meaning the rear is higher than the front, to accomodate any payload so it levels it out to have a load in the bed, or a load on the tongue. Really and truly tows well beyond any 1500 class truck I have owned and reminiscent of my 2020 3500 Cummins in pulling capacity.

We recently brought our 4500 pound Winnebago trailer into a servicing center to get things leveled. The technician told us everything was perfectly level as is, and he thought it was maybe because of the battery weight distribution throughout the truck. No extra charge there!
