I have an order for a Lariat ER that has not been issued a VIN yet.

I'm wondering if it's possible to wait out the parts shortage for a bit?

Do the parts ever come back in stock, or are they out for the Model year?

So you're asking if anyone on the forum knows if out of stock parts are going to ever be in stock? How would they know that?

As to ordering, if Ford has removed a feature (heated steering wheel, scale), you very likely won't see that feature again for a long time - otherwise they'd pull the vehicle and wait for the parts. Right now they have tens of thousands of vehicles unfinished, and expect to have tens of thousands at year end.

There may be historical examples of it happening already. There may have been information from other channels of how long a particular part shortage may be.

In any event many people follow this forum including Ford itself. So yes I'm asking the various people of this forum.

I'm not exactly keen on paying $2000 more for a set of tires I don't need. It's a fair question.

Short answer is yes, but you'll need to work with your dealer. Supposedly they are able to add on the parts that are being removed, which will prevent your truck from being scheduled. I know they can also give you a very high priority code, like 99, that will also prevent your from being scheduled. They will know the process better than any of us.

Basically, you want to tell Ford to just wait to build your truck until it has all the features it's supposed to have. Don't build it with missing features and just give you credit.

I don't know if there's a way to do that specifically, but your dealer may be able to put your status code on "hold" and wait until it seems like the stuff you want is actually available.

Might want to pose this question to one of the knowledgeable dealers that do the Q&A sessions on Youtube. They might now what the options are for that. Most here won't know the inner workings of the order process well enough, and most random dealer employees, almost certainly not, either.

Wish I would have seen this before I started typing. Could have saved me writing the same thing over again 2 minutes after you haha.
