Ya they are really ahead of everyone else when it comes to their EVs. Been seriously looking at an ioniq5 even though the wife doesn't like how it looks.I thought the Iconic 6 was the latest vehicle from them. The 5 is so last year.
I will say the Koreans are doing things right...I bought my wife a Kia EV6, as it was one of the best EV platforms on the market last year (not near as much fun to drive as my Lightning, but a better EV platform).
So are the fake shift points, "tachometer" and pushing the "boost" button being required to achieve full acceleration. The fake engine noise is pure cringe, especially since it also gets pumped outside the car.
Can't say I agree this is what the Mach-e GT should have been... Although I think Ford fumbled the GT, lots of missed opportunity there.
Performance specs are pretty surprising for the Hyundai label... I mean, acceleration is on par with the Model Y Performance -- claiming 0.1s quicker, but we'll see how that shakes out.
The Ionic 5 is a great car, even though it's ugly AF. Nice to see this performance entry.
You can choose to turn off all the nonsense.OMG... I was too busy laughing at all the nonsense to see the rest of the nonsense like fake shifting... LOL.. This car is a 55 gallon drum of lame sauce.
Can you choose to buy the car without the phony stick shift? The more I look into this car, the dumber it gets. You can choose to turn off all the nonsense.
Unfortunately for you, this is where performance EV’s are headed. It’s understandable some like the quietness of EV’s and some don’t.Can you choose to buy the car without the phony stick shift? The more I look into this car, the dumber it gets.
I think Hyundai has done a lot of good with the overall concept and the level of customization is nice to see. Yet I think they're trying too hard with making it fun by trying to replicate an ICE experience. I don't believe this is where performance EVs are headed.Unfortunately for you, this is where performance EV’s are headed. It’s understandable some like the quietness of EV’s and some don’t.
Yes, and that whole fake sound thing is stupid as shit. At least Ford and GM are backing off of that. Some industry guy somewhere decided that it's what people want, but it's not. Ford received tons and tons of requests to disable the fake engine noise in many of their recent vehicles like the 4th Gen Expedition. It's now only there if the driver chooses to turn it on, vs. the 2018 Expedition I had where it was just always on. It was the number one request on all the initial Mach-e deliveries, where it promptly became an option. It's nice to see the 5 N has at least three sound profile options besides having it off. It’s no different than the fake sounds piped into ICE cars through the speakers.
Hopefully the performance specs and customization options do push other automakers. This car should be fun and push other EV makers to step up their performance versions.
Options to shut off fake gears, sounds or whatever are always welcome.
