I have had similar problems with answering calls hands-free. If a call comes in and I have the phone (iPhone SE 3rd gen) near me (on wireless charger, in pocket, on center console) and I answer the call, I can hear the caller clearly for a few seconds then they break up. Switching to the phone speaker solves the issue.
I noticed this didn’t happen to calls that came in on my daughter’s phone when she was in the back seat. I thought if might be an EMI issue near the front center of the cab, so I tried throwing my phone into the backseat prior to answering the call. Amazingly that worked! Of course, then my phone is in the backseat and out of reach until I stop. After trying different locations I found that if I put the phone in the cupholder at the rear of the center console it will work most of the time and I can still easily get the phone when I’m ready to exit the vehicle. The phone has to be at the proper location prior to answering or making the call. If it is on the charger and I answer the call and then try throwing it into the backseat it won’t work.
Not an elegant solution, but better than trying to hold the phone and drive. Of course it would be nice if Ford figured out what is causing the issue and corrected it!
