Odd you mention Apple router. I just upgraded to Ubiquiti from Orbi. Apple came before that about 10 years back. I just found it in the back of a closet and it went to the wasteland in the sky.
I hear you. I've got ORBI throughout the house - I've got a detached garage so I lit it up with the Airport in bridge mode to extend that network (via hardwired / ethernet between).

I've got an old iPad I no longer use - may try that as a PoC and then buy better hardware if it seems like the right approach:

To use Apple HomeKit, you'll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running the latest iOS, along with at least one HomeKit-enabled device. For controlling devices when away from home, you'll also need an Apple TV, iPad, HomePod, or HomePod mini as a Home Hub.

Apple removed the functionality to use Ipad as a homekit hub. You have to go with either appletv or homepod. Apple only indicated that they changed there architecture but didn't indicate what actually changed(shocking I know).

If you have an older IOS on yout ipad you may still get some functionality. If you are having issues I would only assume that its using the ipad as homkit not meross.

I have this meross device for two of my garage doors. The install was more work than my previous myQ, but well worth it!
The meross works way better for me than the myQ did.

I had the myQ integrated into HomeKit through home bridge and it was very slow, then myQ made API changes, and I was forced to get a new system to maintain CarPlay functionality.

Like others have said, you need to have at least one HomeKit hub. Multiple garage doors aren’t a problem for me because I have them named separately. I normally use the Siri suggestion that pops up in CarPlay to open the garage door, or if something is goofy, just long hold the voice command button on your steering wheel and says Open [insert garage door name.]

I have 3 of the Meross ‎MSG100HK added through HomeKit. I have 3 single garage doors. I just named them 1, 2, and 3, and can use voice control on anyone of them. Echo what others said here, which they all popped up on CarPlay, but seems to be the last used one, so it's always a crapshoot.

Just saying "open garage 1" or "close garage 2" has worked for me. I still use the Homelink in the visor primarily though. It's faster to just hit a hard button than voice control.

The original statement could benefit from some clarification. When it says, "MyQ does not integrate with CarPlay," this might create some confusion. If your main goal is to get your garage opener working with HomeKit, consider using a third-party bridge like Homebridge or hardware such as Hoobs. Many devices that are compatible with Google Home can also be integrated into HomeKit with the right plugin.

If you were referring to CarPlay, it's understandable, but I think you meant to talk about HomeKit, as they are part of a similar suite of tools. If you're not entirely comfortable with technical steps or don’t have a technical background, I recommend selecting only smart devices that explicitly state they are HomeKit compatible. :like:

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions about using HomeKit bridges.

Good luck!:)
