July 2021 SR MME, July 2023, Lightning Lariat
The S.O. drives the ‘21 SR MME (55,000 miles) and I roll in the ‘23 ER Lariat (21,000 miles).

Different vehicles, no real point in comparing them. The MME shines on cost, efficiency, and tight city driving. The Lariat is a utility Swiss Army Knife. Makes my long gone ‘99 7.3 F250 SD look like a desirable antique. The LT is also a towing machine, handy generator, a smooth cruising highway wolf in sheep’s clothing. Could be the last truck we buy.

I’ll report back when it turns 150K 😂.

I had a '21 MME Premium ER AWD that I kept for a year. It was a first year model so I expected bugs, none of which bothered me all that much except the fans that would run when L2 charging it. I remember the first time I charged in my garage and my wife came running in saying I think there is something wrong with your car! It sounded like a jet engine running in there... they eventually came out with an OTA that throttled down that fan, but it was always annoying. I think ford did the MME a disservice by putting skinny tires on it. I swapped out the wheels and tires for something wider, went 255/45R20 on a wider wheel and it was like a whole different car. So much fun to drive and cornered like a go cart. But it just wasn't practical so I ended up selling it for an ICE truck a year later (because the Lightning was impossible to get in 2022). Here is a pic of my old MME:

Any idea when this is going to be? And are we talking that the 2023 trucks will get this update?
The Mach-E was to be updated last summer... That never happened. So no, I have no idea when.

Yes, all Lightnings will get updated to 1.4, likely after Mach-Es do. It will be soon*...

* "soon" is a Ford trademarked term meaning anytime from tomorrow until the end of time as we know it on earth.
