After having my lightning for a year I finally put the line-x in this week. I had been looking at one local dealer earlier in the year but they suddenly disappeared a few months back.

The dealer I ended up going to was a little further away but seemed to do a good job. When I was checking out I asked them what happen to the other dealer and they told me there was some drama at linex where they had brought in a new CEO 2 years ago who was determined to squeeze more money out of the franchises by altering their franchise agreements upon renewal and was threatening them them at the same time with no-compete clauses. The outcome is that over 200 of the dealers have closed up shop and more are in the process. The dealers formed a group to sue linex but it sounds like the damage is already done. My dealer said they are departing linex in 2 months when their current agreement expires.

If you are determined to specifically get linex you might want to call around and make sure your dealer still exists. The dealer I went to said they are switching to a similar product(who knows). The warranty is a little fuzzy for linex. I'm not sure if its really with Line-x or the dealership. Either way it can be a problem if I end up with no local dealerships.

Explains why the dealer that installed mine isn't a LineX franchisee any longer. Noticed when driving by one day.
