I’m with you. I read on some other model trucks guys are getting as much as 1/2” of settling. I don’t want a 2” kit to settle at 1.5”. But I also don’t want a 3” kit that holds true to 3”.Adjustability is a big key for me as well, as I'm running some 285/60R20 Toyo AT3s on 20x9 (+25 offset) wheels. They JUST fit without any rubbing at stock height, but I haven't done more than commute in it so far. I just want to get a bit of wiggle room while maintaining some of the rake and improving ride quality.
Reading over at Tacomaworld, guys are getting them with very little or no preload out of the box. So I’m thinking a 2” set is really 2”+ once you adjust the collar for a little more preload. so it sounds like my first concern about a 2” kit settling low could just be cranked back up to 2”. So a 3” lift coilover would just have a 1” longer body to start with, not extra preload.
