New Jersey sales tax exemption?

While digging around to see how the federal tax incentive works, I came across an interesting website that lists the Lightning as a qualified vehicle for sales tax exemption. I purchased my vehicle in NJ last month and paid sales tax. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to?

You definitely weren't supposed to. I live in NJ and paid no sales tax on the purchase of mine.

Can I apply for this after sale? I read on the form that you have 90 days after the sale, just wondering how it worked for you. Did you fill out the proper forms or dealer took care of that for you?

If you are not a NJ resident then I don't think this applies to you. Your profile says your location is NYC?

The dealer took care of it since they are the ones registering it and that's when you pay the tax. If you aren't a resident of NJ then it wouldn't apply since the sales taxes on vehicles are done with registration in NJ.
