Order Confirmation Process

Hello all! Got in my order for an XLT 312A as soon as I could when the prices dropped. Super excited for the new truck but realize I’m in for a wait of at least a few months. I’ve scanned the forums before posting, but is there a ballpark time between dealing accepting the order and email confirmation from Ford that it’s moving forward? In my portal on Ford’s website I can see that the dealer has accepted the order and the sales rep called and told me to watch my email for something from Ford but it’s been several days and I have nothing. Any idea how long I should wait before reaching out to Ford or the dealer to see if something slipped through the cracks?

My memory is foggy, but I don't recall if Ford sent me an email immediately after the dealer clicked the ACCEPT button, just monitor you personal order online, and watch for the next step which is scheduling to the week, at that point you will be assigned a VIN.

Then a lot more waiting to to see if the window sticker is generated (11 days prior to the projected Monday build week), once your sticker is generated, the production date is pretty much set in stone, barring any issues with production & parts supply.

I had a reservation, and was invited to order on December 15, 2022. I put in the order that day, and my dealer called me the next day (Friday the 16th) to double-check everything, and they confirmed the order either that same day or on Monday.

A little over a month later (January 26th), I got an email that production had been scheduled for the week of February 27th. That email included the VIN for my truck. Once I had the VIN, I was able to view the window sticker. I don't know the exact date, but about two weeks prior to the build week sounds about right.

My truck was delayed by the battery fire and assembly line shutdown, so the build week was delayed several times until the week of April 17th. It took about two weeks from the start of the build week until the truck was shipped, and a bit more than another week for it to arrive at my dealer. Once the build was (finally) in progress, my dealer called with a deliver time estimate that was accurate to within a day. In general they were on top of things and the entire process went smoothly.

Personally I'd hold off given in 2024 the tax credit happens at POS. Between continued economic woes and stagnation in general, Nov is the earliest I'd fire off an order. Especially with boxy truck about to start getting delivered. The deals will only get better.
