Working as designed. The phone or fob must be within 3 feet of the door. This is to prevent some stranger from accessing your vehicle in the parking lot while you are in a nearby store (for example).What also boggles me is that PAAK works on bluetooth and it needs to be very close for it to work. However, I can open the frunk or tailgate with my phone from about 50 feet away, which is also bluetooth.
This is from the Mach-E manual, but the Lightning is the same.
