Hello. I’m new here and new to EV’s. I recently purchased a car scanner pro to access information about my Lightning. It shows a lot of good information but how do I know if anything I’m seeing is out of spec or within acceptable ranges. Where can I find this information. Are there any books or good websites that can provide this info.? Thanks

If you have to go looking for problems with a microscope, do you really have any? Its possible, but you are probably more likely to find false positives or temporary conditions that are reasonable.

A lot of the info is more informational than diagnostic. Examples are parameters while driving or charging.

I was one of the unlucky ones that had a module go bad that required a replacement. So I monitor the HVB parameters. In particular the HVB Module Deviation %.

Here is my HVB Module Deviation showing the module going bad and then the repair.

Also, a lot of folks like to check the HVB SOH (State of Health). Your SOH should be 100% and will slowly drop as the battery ages. Although some see their SOH drop and go up later.

You can also monitor your 12V battery SOC. Some issues are due to that. I think it should ideally be above 50%, preferably higher, but there is no real guidance there.

In reality, the benefit is to give you more informational data like while charging. I wouldn't worry about specs. Most of the dashboards folks have built replicate what you would see for an ICE engine (RPM, temperatures, etc.)

Perhaps the real value in your case is Car Scanner allows you to view any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). So if you get a wrench icon or Stop Safely message, you will get some more info by googling the DTC's it provides.
