I've posted about this in another thread on this forum which I've pasted below. Also of note if you build and price a 700a and look at the difference between the tow tech and tow package it is $210 more for the tow package - the only difference being the 7 pin wiring harness and 7 to 4 pin adapter which is included in the higher level trucks. I have not yet found anything proving otherwise after scanning every thread available. The ford docs are no help because they don't even have the same names for the tow packages, only calling out heavy duty, medium duty etc. All that being said to an earlier point probably going to run out of payload in these loaded out trucks before you have to start worrying about tow capacity.

That's the problem - the documentation does not call out 17T which combined with 53b = what's included in the trailer tow package per the '21 grid that has a column for all the tow packages. If you look at the literature it almost seems as if 17T was an afterthought for '21 / late to the party. Still looking for the documentation that states otherwise. Also no one can point to what's different - first it was sway bars and that turned out to be for the 2020 trucks. Has to be something though if Ford is going to charge more for the towing package on their build and price site on top of the other options. Otherwise someone at Ford needs to justify how they are charging an extra $1k for equipment that already exists on the higher trimmed trucks with 17T.

On the build and price site this is what's included in the tow package when building a 701a. The only things that seem to indicate a difference is the Tailgate LED light included on Lariat and above and the wiring harness and 7 to 4 pin adapter which was included with my truck:

I'm in Canada and here there is only one Platinum trim package - 701 Standard. It includes Tow Tech AND Trailer Tow per the detailed description. Also, on the build & price tool you can see 701 Standard and Trailer Tow as options but when you choose Platinum trim it auto-selects both 701 Standard and Trailer Tow. You cannot unselect either. There is no selectable option for Tow Tech. Max Tow remains alternate option which forces removal of Trailer Tow option.

Not sure this helps on the US side of things other than imply Ford doesn't see much value in Tow Tech only to even offer it up here.

It isn't that they don't want to offer it to Canada, it is that it is already included in 701A for "free"
