I'm new to the world of trucks, having transitioned from an SUV, and I recently got myself a Ford F-150 Lightning. I'm eager to learn from this knowledgeable community. I've already picked up some tips for saving battery life and enhancing efficiency, like driving efficiently, using regenerative braking, managing speed, and the importance of preconditioning the battery, especially in extreme temperatures.

I would love to hear your best tips for maximizing battery efficiency and range. Are there any specific practices or accessories ( on/off) you've found particularly useful for the Lightning?

Also, I'm compiling a list of must-have items to keep in my truck. So far, I have a mobile charger, an extension cord, jumper cables, and a tow rope. What are your essential items that you always keep in your truck?

Appreciate all your insights and looking forward to becoming an active member of this community!

Thanks in advance!

Unless your normal use case pushes the range limit, don’t worry about it and enjoy the ride.
The stuff I keep in the truck is pretty much the same stuff I kept in my ICE truck. Ratchet straps to secure stuff in the bed, tools, bungee cords, hand cleaning wipes, etc. I throw the mobile charge in only for road trips.

Tonneau cover for the bed is a good investment if you live in an area that gets snow so you're not hauling that stuff around.

I second a set of ratchet straps.

Average speed rules. In my driving environment, I average 48 mph in a mix of town & country. Thus I average 2.5 mi/KWh. But a trip to the city and that goes to ~55. Go cross country, then 62-65 mph. Mi/KWh drops.

Winter, energy use goes up and about the only way to mitigate that is using say seat heat and auto heat set at 65. But in our area, once the temps drop below 40, then 30, energy use goes up. Fortunately I don’t live in sub zero worlds. My winter energy use means 2.2-2.4 mi/KWh.

I roll at 45 psi tire pressure and have a bed cover. In 11,400 miles I’ve averaged 2.5 mi/KWh.

Damn our temps right now are in the AM around 45 and during day around 65 and I average around 2.2 mi/kwh. I do drive mostly highway/interstate though maybe that's why.

We do have a person that has been testing Li-ion cells for over 12 years and has given advice (that he does not follow) on how to make the cells last nearly forever. Look for the guy that runs the Energy Storage Technology Center and read his posts ;)
