Hi,
I have had zero issues with my Truck - Today I noticed a "squeaking" sound when power running boards extend/retract. My truck is overdue for a Car/Truck wash. Would this resolve this squeaking sound or should I take other actions. Thanks as always for any help.

@invertedspear called it out. You need to lubricate and seal the moving hinges on the running boards. I've had the retractables on my 2018 and now on my 2023 Lightning and they required maintenance at least yearly.
  • If squeaking, you may want to use penetrating oil first to clear out the joint and get it loosened up. Spray liberally and run the boards a few times up and down. Give it some time to work in, then wipe down any excess.
  • I use a good spray lithium-based grease to grease the joints. Work the boards a few times to help the grease work through the joint. Give it some time to set up, then wipe up any excess
  • I go one step further with Fluid Film to seal the joints as best as possible. Fluid film solidifies and creates a barrier by closing up some of the gaps in the joints and blocking salt water spray.
I usually do this every fall before they start spreading salt on the roads ;-).

Hi there! I can look into your Lightning's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Lightning's VIN?
